I was going through my Hip shows that are saved on my computer tonight and was listening to some tracks from the 11/26/96 show at Marine Midland Arena, at least it was MMA at the time. Its one of my favorites because I was there, with my fiance, now wife. I put on 100th meridian and for some reason Gords rant right after "I remember Buffalo" finally sunk into my thick skull. He mentions "I remember a lot of people gettin out of school, I remember a lot of bands, I remember a lot of drinking". That may not be in the proper order, but its close. The rant concludes with Gord getting hit in the head with a big boot. Most of you WNY fans should remember what he is referring to. It was Spring Fest 1993 at UB. I wasn't there, but a friend of mine was and told the same story. Many college students, done with the semester, most drunk and mainly non Hip fans. I think the Hip were the last band to go on that day. Some drunk threw a boot that hit Gord and they walked off, as well they should. I can't believe it took me almost ten years to notice that. I feel kinda dumb.
ok :?
This is what happens when The Hip only come South of the Mason Dixon only once everyso often..

Cry

The same thing happened in Vancouver when the Hip played the PNE Fourm building in 95?. Someone beamed Gord in the head with a shoe. As a result the show ended early.

jay stains

i go to ub, and i'm a huge hip fan, but i would never do that to gord. buffalo is a great hip town, never forget that! :x
Interesting Story to that show...My first...It was May 1, 1993 and the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing the heavily favoured Detroit Red Wings in Game 7 of the first round of the playoffs...The game went into O.T. That crowd was pretty unruly that day/night. (What do you expect when you have Black Sheep open for the HIp) Anyway, things were being thrown on stage with greater emphasis and finally something hit Gord in the Head. It was during Little Bones and I remember it well...A little tired....BAM...Microphone down...Off stage...The timing was perfect for the boys too, as they must of got backstage just in time to watch the overtime and the Leafs pull the big upset. It was a great first show despite the hubbub.
