Well since radio sucks and i refuse to pay for xm or sirrus. I decided i would take two hip boots with me for my drive, today i founds some gems that i hadn't listen to in a long while
1. 8/22/98 zoo amphitheatre toledo ohio -- great with emperor penguin and escape is at hand ,
2. 7/1/95 high sierra music festival bear valley california- this one has at the end of fight , gord starts to sing flamenco which i don't believe was out yet when this show was recorded.
i so now everyday i will take a few hip boots for my drive to make the day start out great instead of some crazy radio station promotion of screaming dj or just plain crap

as a guy in the biz, i would say not all radio sucks, but i understand your frustration..i sense a change in radio soon, and i think it's going to be quite exciting..sattlellite radio will force us to change, and please the "music lovers"....there are some good stations out there, and some good jocks....if you're ever in kamloops, tune into cifm...i think you'll find it a refreshing change from most commercial radio
Radio down here is sucking more and more since Cheap Channel (aka Clear Channel) is taking over. As a former spouse of a former radio personality I know it's hard to find good radio these days. Hell, living in the states far enough south where I can't get Canadian radio REALLY sucks. I'd rather just listen to the hip on CD or to talk radio, i.e. Don and Mike and Phil Hendrie, Rush Limbaugh, etc.
Thanks goodness I live in Montreal! CHOM 97.7 FM might not be the greatest station on Earth, but I can always count on plenty of Hip.

Here in Niagara we pick up stations that will play the Hip with some regularity. 97.7 HTZ-FM here in St. Catharines gives them a couple of tunes every day. 96.9 in Buffalo, Q107 Toronto, Y108 Hamilton, and even The Edge 102 will give them occassional airplay. If you flip around with any regularity you'll hear some Hip. Generally speaking, it's from Fully Completely though. Sometimes you'll catch Bones, Poets, or Grace.
There is also a high level of Theory of a Nickelcreed penetration on those stations as well, unfortunately.
we have the edge 102.1 in toronto which is pretty good, but alot of the other stations do suck.

97.7 Hitz FM is awesome. Lots of live hip songs like highway girl and killerwhaletank in the wee hours of the nite (or morning).
My faith in radio was restored between 6 and 7 last night on the Edge. Every song played was the current single from a new or soon to be released album, with one exception being a classic Pixies track played at the end of the hour. New Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, White Stripes, Stills... a great set of music to finish off the home stretch of moving from Kingston to home.

Yep...97.7 is probably the best for hip...Y108 and the Q107 are not bad also....but I still have yet to hear anything from IBE on the radio
I don't listen to radio much anymore, Q107 played Vaccination Scar a fair bit when IBE was released though.
The thing about the hip on the radio is that only some songs seem to get played. Has anyone ever heard Nautical Disaster on the radio?
P.S. Lucky you with that bootleg, I've been looking for one with a good version of Emperor Penguin on it. The FTP server seems to have been down for a couple weeks now.

Crap... that blows away the Hip playlist for stations in my area, I'm 99.9% positive of that. So when can we start listening to your station on the web?
