The old man works for Yamaha and they debuted some very cool (Well, so my electronic geek buddies tell me...) stuff at this years CES including a TV that can split sound down the centre of a room and a single speaker that can produce a surround sound effect. He'll be on the TV shilling it, and since some of you around here have met him, here's a shameless plug:

And in case anybody wants to see what I'm gunna look like in 20 years... minus the stash of course.
That is pretty cool, I am doing a reno in my house, so if your dad wants to test market it in a real home I would be glad to volunteer.

I grew up in a "test market."
In fact that whole pitch is how every new person who ever came over to the house met my dad... "here I've got something to show you."
It is cool to note however that the first time that puppy was used privately in Canada, it was "Ahead By A Century" live from Ottawa blasting through it... and it did sound like Paul and Bobby were on their respective sides of the stage.
It's true. He definately was eager to show off the toys when I was over there.

IS that unit in the stores yet... high end ones I guess?
very cool stephen! What a cool product, I like Yamaha, my whole stereo, except the speakers is from them and it rocks! Tell him I said so :thumb:

I honestly have no idea, but I remember it wasn't cheap... I recall $2300 for some reason. My dad answers all the e-mail sent to the Yamaha Canada site which is linked in that story, he'll know... but I can't see the logic in them pushing it if it aint available yet or at least soon.
East Hamilton Radio usually has the best prices on my dads stuff.
