Okay, i think we can all agree that the preshow hosts were horrible at best...so who should it be for 2006?
My picks:
Suk Yin Lee (sp) she's in the know and has some street cred
Carl Wilson from the globe and mail.
And slow it down a touch....the pace was frantic to give this allure of hollywank or something...id have liked to hear more from the artists, not just unusable soundbits/ben asking a quesion then tuggin the mic away mid sentence from the person he's just asked a question to..so he could pitch to the other useless one...sorry dont know her name.
I dunno, there are a lotta possibilities, yours?
just get rid of the damn red carpet. nobody wants to see a bunch of no name singers handing out tickets

I second that!! No need for it, just scan the audience a few times to show them.
It wouldn't matter who they got to do the red carpet, it would still be horrible. I also say they should just scrap the whole bit.

I'd love to see that. It'd give more time to the show, allowing more folks to pick up their hardware on TV.
certainly if given the choice between those two again and no-one, i'd be onboard for no hosts whatsoever.
I think though, that some sort of entrance gala can work....

im not sure that id call Ron Sexsmith a no-name singer...? Id like to have heard more from him infact...even if it is just self promo, i think 'it' can work to introduce these lesserknown folks to a newer audience..im thinking of my dad here who still thinks that canadian music scene is non-existant...
We have a healthy stable of performers who are garnering international cred and are still largely unknown in canada. I dont think a few seconds of screen time will hurt them, but being interviewed by morons will and seeing as there is limited time within the actual junos to get everyone on (performers/presenters)
Dunno, i think it could work w the right (read: cool) hosts.
Preshow hosts: the guys from sum 41
Despite the fact their music is edging towards emo, it would be funny to hear them brazenly make fun of the pompous, self-important asses in Canadian music, and to tease the interesting, intelligent musicians. The host next year HAS to be George Strombolopoulos....even if he is (temporarily) out of show biz. He is still the best we have.
i'll sign up for..actually being in this indsustry, is paifull to me...i see so much talent go nowhere and absolute shit get the prime gigs..i will not stop fighting from the inside though
