Neil Young is recovering from surgery on Tuesday to address a brain aneurysm. After performing with the Pretenders on March 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York, the artist experienced what his publicist describes as "visual field disturbances," and an MRI scan revealed the source of the problem.
Rather than have surgery immediately, Young spent the next week in Nashville recording for an as-yet-unrevealed project. Tuesday's procedure has been called "a complete success," and Young is expected to make a full recovery. However, the artist has been forced to cancel his planned Sunday (April 3) appearance at Canada's Juno Awards

"I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to make it to Winnipeg for the Junos as I had hoped," said Young. "I grew up there and was really looking forward to the show as well as spending some time with my old friends. Thanks to my doctors, I'm feeling a lot better now so I hope I can get a rain check."

It was the top story on the news here and I thought it might be an April Fools thing as well. But when I heard the bit about the brain aneurysm and surgery I figured a news station would not make a joke about that. I wish it was a joke though because I was looking forward to his performance on Sunday night.
He was supposed to open the show...so I wonder who is going to do it now?? I hope to god it isn't Simple Plan because I really don't want to puncture my ear drums at the beginning of the show. They have got to be the most irritating band ever. It's bad enough I am forced to sit through their performance in the first place.
Wow this news is shocking...Neil Young is my all-time favorite artist. I hope he indeed makes a full recovery like the article says he's expected to.

Did the AP story mention the Juno's?
The AP story was the one in the Miami Herald and I didn't read all of it so I don't know.
It's not a joke. Nobody would joke about a brain aneurysm.
Its good to hear they expect a full recovery. I would not be to impressed if this was a joke.
Best wishes Neil. I couldn't wait to see the living legend make a rare Juno's appearance but the Junos are meaningless compared to his health. Godspeed Neil and get well soon. Keep putting out brilliant music.
