FYI- I stumbled across TPOH's website whilst googling for them and they have quite a collection of live MP3's for download. Check it out!

The list isn't too bad, I think the order is off and bands like Billy Talent have no business being there. I'm sure they won't be when the next list comes out.

i think billy talent is one of the best new canadian bands in quite some time to be honest with you..sure beats simple plan and shit like that..it's more of an album, then just a bunch of songs thrown together...and after seeing them live, i think they'll be around for quite a long time
I fully and completely believe that Twice Removed is the best Canadian album of all time!!! although im a bit biased considering sloan is fully and completely my favorite band of all time.

...

i'm sorry, but none of those bands deserve a spot on the list when there's not a single album from Big Sugar, Moist, I Mother Earth, Junkhouse, Strapping Young Lad, Copyright, Skinny Puppy, or The Tea Party making the cut...Bryan Adams?!?!!?!?!? GARBAGE! Billy Talent and Death From Above?...they're both decent, but gimme a break, this isn't a who's hot/who's not list. the list is fucked, but i wouldn't expect anything less from Chart...

even Wintersleep, Into Eternity, Brassmunk, Breach Of Trust, and 54-40 deserve spots on the list more than a lot of the artists that are on it.

I mean, I'm almost positive the Hip would get better reviews if they sold only about 400,000 records in their career. For a lot of music writers, it seems it's the cool thing to do to hype a band that isn't popular and sing it's praises!

Now this I totally agree with. As a music fan there's nothing more annoying than elitist holier-than-thou music critics who write off a band like the Hip simply because they're on a major label and that they've sold few million records. I've often heard certain critics (Mike Bell of the Calgary Sun, I'm lookin at you) call them a "glorified bar band", which has always bugged me, mainly because as a fan I know that there's so much more to their music than what the critics see. I still find it interesting that the majority of positive Hip reviews always come from the U.S., while Canadian critics are always trying to find new ways to shit on them and knock them from their lofty perch. I thought it was great last year to see Gord going off on the critics in some of the interviews he did. I imagine that stuff was brewing up inside him for quite some time.

Don't get me started on Mike Bell. That guy gets off bashing anything Canadian. My cousin and I went looking for him when we seen the hip play the Jubilee in Calgary. Don't know what we were going to do if we found him. I was drunk off whiskey so I probably would have accused him of trying to wheel my girlfriend and then barfed on him. I think I remember him writing that Nickleback was the new Metallica. Pure brilliance.
What about April Wine?

(Just had to add it, Im an Easterner)

-Lynette
yeah, they should be on there, Barenaked Ladies too.

Tongue Tongue Tongue hahahahahahaha Nickelback new Metallica!! hahahaha I'm not a fan of Metallica but I'm aware of the pinnacles they reached in their career. hahahahaha Nickelback!! haha At least Nickelback weren't voted #1 on the list.

Direwolf, that's all I was saying. Honestly, I haven't heard much of Lowest of the Low but I've heard great things about them and the songs I've heard sounded good. I wasn't saying they didn't deserve to be on the list. I just don't neccesarily think they should be in the top ten, the same with Sloan. I think Day For Night should be higher on the list but truthfully, Neil Young or Joni Mitchell should be number one. There's no way "Twice Removed" is better than "Tonights the Night" or "Everybody Knows this is Nowhere" or "Rust Never Sleeps" or "Harvest" or "After the Gold Rush" or Joni's "Blue" or The Band- "The Band" . "Jagged Little Pill" should be in the top ten for sure, and WHERE THE HELL IS GORDON LIGHTFOOT?? How can they have a list without arguably the greatest songwriter this country has ever produced?

I couldn't agree more. The fact that Lightfoot doesn't appear anywhere on the list is absolutely mind boggling. And where the hell is 54-40?? Those guys have been around for over 20 years, the've released more than a couple of bonafide classic albums (most notably 1985's self-titled, 1992's Dear Dear, and 1994's Smilin Buddha Cabaret). Not to mention the fact that they've had dozens of hit singles over the years.
Darkest Canuck- Blue Rodeo Doesn't deserve to be on the list???????????? you have to be joking right, I'm not even that big a fan but they deserve to be there, more so than Big Sugar, and I love Big Sugar. Copywrite... again, you are joking right??
no i am not, Blue Rodeo are ok, but none of their work is better than Hemivision, Heated, 500 Pounds, Dear MF, or Bros./Sisters. Copyright are fucking incredible, they blow Blue Rodeo out of the water any day. anyway, i'm not saying they don't deserve to be on the list at all, i'm saying they don't belong when Big Sugar, or Copyright aren't on it...get it? got it? good, now go back to doing w/e it is you do and leave me alone, i have no further comments to make on this, and i'm not going to argue about this with you. buh-bye.

It's amazing how you feel that you are right all the time.... you must have a tone of friends. Copyright freaking Joke... just like you asswipe.
go listen to blue rodeo and bitch about the youth of today ya miserble bastard.
Copyright was much better in their first incarnation in the 80s, a crazy Vancouver band called Slow, who back then were playing their own unique brand of grungy punk-rock long before grunge was even a word. 10 years from now, Slow will still be remembered. Copyright? Probably not. They're an ok band, but as songwriters they're mediocre at best. In my opinion they don't hold a candle to the brilliance of Keelor and Cuddy.
