This has probably been done before, but it hasn't been, to my recollection, since I started visiting this site last summer. SOOOO:

The game is this. You're a concert promoter. Your goal is to RESURRECT ROADSIDE ATTRACTION and design your own Roadside Attraction lineup of, say, 5-6 other acts that precede the Hip in another grand travelling roadshow extravaganza. The rules are: (a) the acts must lean towards the Canadian, but not exclusively so; (b) no band bigger than the Hip (in terms of their canadian audience) can appear on the bill, although legendary acts like Los Lobos and Midnight Oil, that certainly rival or outdo the Hip terms of legendary status and (perhaps) musical chops are fair game; © there should be some mix of styles.

Nominate your bands, with explanations as you like, and work out the order of appearance.

I don't have a full list yet, but Kathleen Edwards and Buck 65 are definitely on my bill. :thumb:
Since the last Roadside in 1997 featured 9 bands, I'm gonna do the same. If only this could be a 2-day festival. There are so many bands I'd love to see at a thing like this. Anyway, here's my lineup from headliner down:

The Hip
Wilco
The Weakerthans
Drive By Truckers
Kathleen Edwards
K-OS
The Constantines
Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir
Matt Mays & El Torpedo
Add "The Trews" to Casey's bill and I'll go to that show, hell, I'll even drive. I'll pick everybody up 'round 10.

Done. But you know the rules don't you? The guy sitting shotgun has to moon the cars full of attractive girls we encounter on the road... I'd do it myself of course, but ya know, "eyes on the road" and all that.
Another Roadside 2005 lineup

The Tragically Hip
Nickelback
Default
Theory of a Deadman
Simple Plan
Shania Twain feat. Mark McGrath
Celine Dion
Chaka Khan
and and.....the new and improved Hall and Oates Big Grin

Christ.... I really should lay off that Magic Mushroom tea.

I'm in for Casey's show as well....except I'd like to see Matthew Good in that lineup too.

Goulet!!!

This is the Roadside Attraction where the Hip sacrifice the opening bands on an altar as part of their show, right??

I like the idea of ARA 05 'Throw-back':

Closer - Hip

7) Sloan
6) Matt Good (though I doubt he would ever tour with the Hip)
5) I Mother Earth (reunited)
4) Odds (reunited)
3) Watchmen (reunited)
2) Junkhouse (or just Tom Wilson - acoustic version of 'Shine' is killer)
1) Tin Foil Pheonix (formerly Sonic Bloom)

I'd cut off my left arm for that lineup.
