Ok, so I'm trying to plan a vacation for this summer and I think I'd like to just spend a relaxing week in a cabin on a lake with my girlfriend & dog.
I remember when I was little my parents took the family to Midland, Ontario which was really nice, I think.
Any suggestions for someone looking to discover the Canadian interior?
muskoka is a really nice place, theres some nice resorts up there with some amazing golf courses if you like golf.
I like the Port Elgin-Sauble Beach area, Ive been camping there every summer since I was born pretty much. Sauble is one of the best beaches around, you cant lose. :thumb:

The tremblant area is nice to, if you want to travel a little a have a little culture in your vacation.
There's always Grand Bend if you're up for a bit of a party...

And our beach is second to none! Lots of golf around here too. If you are into camping, the Pinery is a beautiful park and it removes you from the crazyness of Grand Bend.
I have many memories of going on family vacations to Manitoulin Island when I was a young kid. It may be off the beaten path a little, but it's worth checking out.
hey, i go to Manitoulin all the time, my grandpa has a huntcamp there! it's nice, but i'd reccomend Kenora/The Rainy River Region, it's very beautiful up there, and if you get bored of just relaxing and taking in the scenery, Winnipeg is only about an hour away.

I wish I could spend 2 months just traveling around Canada. Keep the suggestions coming!
It really depends on what you want...everyone's suggestions have been great...but....do you want to go camping (ie. roughing it), enjoy the nature?, stay at a nice resort? golfing/fishing?, nice beaches? we need a few more details before we can plan the ultimate Canadian adventure...oh and what province are you looking at...that would help too.

I'm looking for a camping/nature trip. And when I say camping - I don't mean roughing it totally. As much as I enjoy sleeping out under the starts, I don't think the girlfirend would dig that. Maybe a cabin or cottage somewhere on a lake with some fishing. Ontario would be the most likely place to go because it's the closest and I'm planning on driving from western New York (where I'm originally from) and that already takes 10 hours to get to. I'd like to be close to a town or city so we can do some sightseeing and meet some people and go party if the mood hits us... but for the most part just have a relaxing few days enjoying some nature.
