let me clear one thing up..as much as i think seinfeld is overrated, i'd take it over friends anytime...in fact, i would rather poke my eyes out then watch that crap known as the "greatest sitcom of all time"...(that according to NBC during its final episodes...)

as for the greatest show ever regarding seinfeld, i can think of a ton of shows much funnier..

all in the family
cheers
taxi
frasier
arrested development
The Simpsons...

Greatest comedy show of all time = MASH
In my humble opinion Seinfeld is the best sitcom ever with Welcome back kotter in second. However The Simpsons is the best show to ever be on Tv, but again that is just my opinion.
while on the subject of sitcoms, i believe the most UNDERATED sitsom is newsradio
(i cant wait for the dvd)

I couldn't agree more. Newsradio was always a favourite of mine. A rerun will pop up every now and then and I'll catch it. Dave Foley is amazing and they kept Andy Dick on a short leash (that guy is wacko). The show sucked after Phil Hartman was murdered. Jon Lovitz is great but no one can replace Hartman. I also wait for the DVD.
Good call on Newsradio, I alomost forgot about it. Phil Hartman is gone but definetly not forgotten. It was a brilliant show.
Newsradio still comes on here every single day - it's a great show. I had no idea Phil Hartman had been murdered, wow....by his own wife even.

yeah it was quite a shock at the time, its too bad, he was so talented, I really miss his impersonations and simpson characters, man he was sooo funny :thumb:
Anybody know what the story behind the murder was? Confusedcratch:
i think his wife was a schizofrenic or something and went crazy and killed him and thier kids and then killed herself.

shows better than Seinfeld:

The Simpsons
The X-Files
Made In Canada
Trailer Park Boys
The Daily Show

BUT, it still is truly a great show, as far as (non-animated) sitcoms go, it's probably the best ever, the only sitcom of its era that can compete (that i can think of) is The Drew Carey Show, which was reallly hit or miss, with some episodes being pricelessly funny (drew wins the batmobile, drew sprangs his penis, drew cybers with Mimi), and some being kinda boring (some of the more lovey episodes involving his gf's), but it was always good for some nasty insults between Drew and Mimi, or Mimi and just about anyone for that matter.

Friends = shit
Arrested Development = snore
Curb Your Enthusiasm = snore
24 = ?... i dunno, i can't watch any action/drama/mystery/suspense all-in-one shows since X-Files ended
CSI = it's no L&W, that's for sure, not a big fan, but it's ok to watch, som interesting/gruesome deaths sometimes.

some good shows on tv: South Park, The Man Show, Buzz, Kevin Spencer, King Of The Hill, Family Guy, Futurama (i like animated sitcoms..so what? Tongue), Letterman, Conan, Late Late Show, OTR

shows that need to come back: X-files (they had em on Space for a while, but now they're not on any channel), Beavis & Butt-Head (great music vids, horrible music vids, hilarious episodes), Tom Green Show (might not be your cup of tea, but some of his segments cracked me up harder than anything else mentioned in this thread so far, too many to even start mentioning any)
The genius of curb your enthusiasm must go right over your head darkest. X-Files?? GLABEN!!!!
The X-Files owns you, get probed.
