TORONTO (CP) _ Winnipeggers helped set a record for the quickest Juno Awards ticket sellout Saturday, snapping up all available tickets for the April 3 show in 16 minutes, organizers said.
``We anticipated a sellout, but this exceeded our expectations,'' Melanie Berry, president of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts, said in a release. ``We are very excited by the outstanding support shown by Winnipeggers.''
The previous record was set in 2003 when the event from Ottawa's Corel Centre featuring host Shania Twain sold out in 21 minutes.
This year's show from Winnipeg's MTS Centre will be hosted by Brent Butt of the TV show Corner Gas and will be televised by CTV. Performers will include The Tragically Hip, Neil Young, k.d. lang, k-os, Billy Talent and Simple Plan.

take that shania!!
That isn't surprising considering employees of the MTS Centre are entitled to 4 tickets each. So I am wondering how many tickets were actually on sale for the general public? The was a public uproar over this and the Hilary Duff concert so I am sure there will be another one with the Junos. I am lucky to have gotten tickets but that is only because I had connections Smile

I think the price range was anywhere between $70 to $116 (for floor seats). Not bad in my opinion. This is probably going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me so I was almost willing to pay anything. Smile
Hell ya to see da hip and Neil so good worth 150$!

Yeah, but chances are they'll only play one song each, and you also have to sit through Simple Plan. However, I suppose it would be worth it just to see the Hip's induction into the hall of fame.
btw, don't forget about K-OS! K-OS IS THE MAN!

but even with K-OS, The hip, and Neil Young playing, it still isn't worth it IMO, they'll play a song a piece and then what? it's gonna be a snorefest, the only way i'd go was if it was free, or if i could get back stage passes, that'd be cool, check out the performances you want and then mingle and party it up back stage.
