Bah. They should have left it the name it was but of course the corporations that own major shares in sports teams and venues all want their name on the building the team plays in.
I just like SkyDome better than Rogers Centre (eeww).
High
Roger's didn't just buy the naming rights, they bought the whole damn SkyDome... giving the them right to name it whatever they want. I'm surprised it took them two months to get around to renaming it.

And they are the sole owners of the Jays - not just a shareholder.
They own the team, they own the building and now they're giving the Rogers Centre (gotta get used to that!) a makeover with three new video boards and new FieldTurf...add to that a $210M commitment to player salaries over the next three years (they sit at around $50M this year) and he could have called it the "I'm Ted Rogers and You're Not-Dome" for all I care...
Unfortunately, in the end all this is moot when you play in a division with the Yankees ($200M in salaries PER year) and Bosox, but it's nice to see them at least making an effort...
They should have Just called it Rogers Skydome, everyone is going to call it skydome anyways.
WHY WON'T THEY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!?
Good to see they are making an attempt to fix things up there. I didnt realize it was the last place in the league to use astro turf.
It will always be SkyDome to me.
They should have called it Rogers Field or Rogers Park... a Centre just doesn't make sense for a baseball diamond.
But yeah, it's good that they are putting in new FieldTurf and increasing the payroll... although it's hard to see how it will help them beat the Yankees and Red Sox... oh well.

Ditto! 10-20 years from now we'll talk about the skydome...and our children will look at us like we're crackheads..but..it'll still be the skydome.
I think that "The Rogers Dome" would have been more fitting.
no matter what you call it that staduim has left its best days behind. When built it was so cool to be in the dome, now everyone wants a nice outdoor ballpark.
And given Rogers notorious service quality, we can expect the Dome to start caving in any day now.
Wow, this sucks. There was some simple poetry about the name... A dome that opened to the sky... but then what the hell would Ted Rogers known about simplicity.
This sucks.
