sadly..yes i can believe it...what a joke
if i remeber correctly, the 16 year old was mentally challenged and they beat the sh*t outta him by slamming his head on the back of the cop car. i say he deserved to lose his job

just my .02
I too agree that police officer's compensation award is ridiculous...HOWEVER...we don't know all the circumstances in this situation...All too often these guys are painted as angels being brought down by the big bad policeman, but no one knows who they really are. Maybe he did smoke the cop in the nuts, he could be a gang member, a drug dealer...the point is you don't know. It's very dangerous to make statements and pass judgements in a case like this without knowing the details...However in this particular case, based on what I've read, and what I remember from 2 years ago when this story broke, the cop was definitely out of line.

My brother and best friend are cops and I've heard so many stories it would blow your mind...I have a great deal of respect for policemen, I wouldn't take their job in a million years.

Agreed, the other thing that makes me wonder is why the black officer who was involved only got a 4 day suspension. They've never fully explained the reasoning behind that. Was it his first offense? Was he a minor participant in the beating? We had a case here along similar lines where the white police officer beat the crap out of a black suspect in the booking room for spitting on him, the black police chief at the time(who wasnt very popular among the black or white community at the time for his arrogance and inability to do something about the crime rates) immediately fired the guy without due process and the cop appealed, got re-hired and then got disability pay because he was a pariah(as well he should be) in the force.
