I figure that I'll receive more help from the other ladies of hipbase on this one, but what exactly does semi-formal dress entail? I have to go to a dinner party type thing with my boyfriend and I'm at a loss when it comes to what to wear. I know formal leans towards longer dress length, but can be short? So what would that make semi-formal? Argg. Any suggestions?

Semi Fomal= White bed sheet...green olive leaves in hair and draught beer out of a red plastic cup....at least that's what it meant at University.

Formal Attire = Black Tie & Ballroom Gown
Semi-Formal = Suit or Sportcoat, Cocktail Dress / Dressy Suit
At least that's what it used to mean, anyway, before society went to Hell in a handbasket......

Whenever my former employer in Plattsburgh held it's annual Christmas Party and Annual Banquet. Semi Formal meant no jeans.
You could wear anything from something with lots of sequins to something that you bought at Wal Mart.
I can't even remember what semi-formal means :oops: :lol:
