Hello fellow Hipbasers,

A few of you have been asking about a Bruins jersey that I recently purchased. If any of you were at the New Year's Eve bash in the Hammer, then you may have seen me and noticed the jersey I was wearing.

The shirt that I dawned was a Boston Bruins jersey (third jersey - you know - the one with the bear on it). On the back of the jersey is Downie and the number is 4. Since Gord D. is a Bruins fan and seeing that I am a huge fan of the Hip and hockey (although not a fan of the Boston Bruins - I root for the Dallas Stars - yes - don't ask), I thought it appropriate to dawn Downie's name on the back of this jersey. The reason I chose the third jersey is because Gord D. used to wear a yellow Bruins hat that also had a picture of the bear. Last time I saw him wearing it, it was pretty beat up. And why the number 4? Two reasons. First, it was the number worn by one of the greatest, if not the greatest hockey player of all-time, Mr. Bobby Orr, of which Gord D. is a huge fan. And, secondly, it represents the year of the Hip for me. Before this tour, I had seen 7 shows dating back to 1999. On this tour alone, I saw 8 shows, plus the Grey Cup, which happened at the last minute. On that note, I do intend to post a Year in Review of my Hip adventures. But for now, here's the jersey. We'll I tried to attach the pics, but I guess I can't do that right now. If, and when this becomes possible, let me know and I'll post.

Cheers and all the best in 05'

wicked cool idea..

I like "Downie 4" because it's kinda like Gord and the other four guys in the band that we shouldn't ever forget about.

I like the Winnie the Pooh jersey too. A good third jersey.

I guess that's now three reasons why "Downie 4" really works. Interesting you should make that point however because there is one more element to the jersey. Due to NHL rules, I was not able to do it through the NHL, however, where the C or A goes on the front of the jersey will be replaced with TTH.

The way I've always looked at this group of guys is that Gord needs the band just as much as the band needs Gord. One is not complete without the other and one doesn't function as well without the other either. As the Tragically Hip, you could never replace Gord, nor could you ever replace the any of the other members of the band. On this latest tour, these guys were as tight as ever and compliment each other so well. And more than anything, they really just seem to have such a great time perfoming night in and night out.

Cheers,
Kevin.
Here is picture of the 'Downie' Bruins jersey. In place of the "C" or the "A" on the front of the jersey will be the letters "TTH"

This is a pre-autograph picture. The jersey now reads under the D and the O, "GO B's GO"

Cheers,
Kevin.
How sweet is that...

Okay, excuse me because I'm an idiot and real bad with names, but your the guy I know whose worn that to shows right? Met you in Ottawa and The Hammer on NYE?

That's a killer jersey. Tons of folks in our section noticed it and loved it.

There's no reason to be shy about being a Habs fan.

As for Bruin fans, keep your chin up....you can't lose to Montreal in the playoffs this year.
Deep down inside everyone is a Habs fan and you all know it!! 8)
