What would happen if I keep on going back and I keep on clicking on the links time after time??
Does that help you guys?
I'm not sure if they track cookies/IPs/etc... but I wouldn't think that they would care as long as you are viewing the page that is paying for the ad space.

Either way, I appreciate your interest and willingness to help out.

In case anyone is wondering, this is not a "get rich" program; since installing the ads (on November 14, 2004 on memorabilia.hipfans.com & the tracker), they have generated $1.49 in gross revenue from 4,586 ads displayed. The site costs about $100 per year + my time, so at this rate, it's just a pipe dream that the site will pay for itself.
Chris, thanks for all the time, effort and money you have put in to creating your HipTracker. I use the site frequently and I will click the links on your page. I hope other users will support the HipTracker by doing this also. The Tracker is a great free resource and I hope Chris can at least break even.

Today I read a post about woodstock99 and someone asked if anyone had a version for torrent. I replied that it was upped to the tracker and that I would open the seed.

Next thing I knew I had 3 leechers. (evidently not including the original request)

I've got the Needs A Seed box working. It's not perfect, but it at least shows the torrents that have leeches without seeds. I'm going to try and tweak it to look more like the Active torrents window so that it links to the .torrent page, etc.

In the meantime, Google says that although I have their advertising on my site, (as does Hipbase - look to the bottom of each page) I am not allowed to ask or direct people to please click on the ads.

I like to think of the ads as a nice exit strategy. When you are ready to leave the site, click an ad and it will take you somewhere else... somewhere that you might find something interesting... or not.

Thanks for the support everyone; and please keep the suggestions coming.
This should help...
The Search Feature is working (it's not perfect, but I'm working on it).

Put in your search criteria, ignore the pull down menu for "(all types)", ignore the checkbox for "including dead", and don't hit search.

Skip to the second line of details and change the "active" pull down to "including dead" and then hit the "Display" button, the results will show up.
Just curious, how much revenue is it from each click on an add?

Many of the ad clicks do not generate any "revenue." In fact, in the year since I launched the site (it was launched October 24, 2004), I have not received a single cent from the ads. Google only sends out a cheque when you make it to the $100 mark...

Today there were 441 ads displayed which earned a whopping 11ยข.

Donations and the ad revenue is used strictly to pay for hosting and bandwidth.
Thought for the stats page:

Is there a way to put a list of the top-downloaded shows up?
That might be of interest to some new members.

Thanks as always for your efforts chris

Good idea! I'll talk to my tech expert and see if it can be implemented.
