just pulled out my "scared" cd single, and had forgotten how cool these versions really are..a slowed down daredevil, and a faster so hard...going on my next hip mix for sure..any thoughts on these versions?

I've always loved the fast version of So Hard Done by. It's easily one of the heaviest songs they've ever recorded, right up there Fire in the Hole, The Wherewithal, and Heart of the Melt.

the alternate version of So Hard Done By is one of my favourites (as the DFN version of the song is one of my Top Ten, having a studio quality alternate version is like double Christmas). It's just two-and-a-half minutes of straight out rocking. and the counterpoint with the long drawn out version of Daredevil (which I also love) works amazingly well.
I have some old bootleg somewhere where they do So Hard Done By and they do it the rockin' way, but one of the lines is "As the model started a beauty myth ..." (vs. "As the MC carried on with it" or "And the stripper stopped in a coughing fit"). Always loved that line.
