I like both Escape and Leave...Leave is very different, musically and lyrically - and not just in the context of the Hip's canon but really from anything I've ever heard. It sounds great and the lyrics flow well.
I used to think Escape was a real high point on Phantom Power, but even though I still like it, I think it's a little overhyped now. I was shocked when people voted it the song they'd most like to hear in the Kingston thread. And people go on at length about it all the time...not sure why. When considered with an eye to all of the ranting and raving that has gone on regarding this song, it starts to seem a little unworthy. A very good song, to be sure, but nothing truly profound.
