Ok, I've always had this idea for a video for lake fever...

basically its just the hip playing live, but is like at a camp at night with all the campers sitting around the fire and the hip...and gord downie is fighting with a flash light much like he would with a microphone...

anyways...

any one else have ideas for videos...thats a loaded questions, so bring em on!
I've always wanted to see Gord acting out she didn't know in video form.

Great idea for a thread.
I always figured a video for escape is at hand would be easy to do....

Simply provide a personal view in a club (ya, know, like you were the one lookin')..... walkin around, buying drinks, watching people do the stupid shit they do in a bar....
Takes a drink at "at times beyond..." the second and third time, and wash the camera with the beer to do a scene cut to the hip live on stage for the chorus..... I've got a storyboard I drew once somewhere... I'll post it if I can ever find it.

Thats a killer idea. wow. :jump :jump :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Emperor Penguin video -- lots of national geographic type penguin footage and drawings from veterinarian textbooks. Gord and the band out on an ice floe or on some antarctic expedition -- all in snow gear. Gord in the tent after-hours writing a letter home, describing the penguins.

CT
haha, that'd be sweet, but i think the best would be an Escape video that basically just mirrors the lyrics.
I'd really like to see a video for Goodnight Josephine. No performance footage at all.

Footage starts at a wake, Gord D approaching the open casket... fade to:

"I remember a girl on a cell phone..."
Gord D, looking through the crowd on the street, seeing this girl (who he knows, but we don't know that yet), and singing the lyrics...

"I remember you there in the last rays..."
Gord D at cottage, looking across the lawn, sun going down over the lake. Dissolve to memory of seeing same girl crying, sitting across from him, in same location.

"I remember you there at the table..."
Gord D at home, wandering through an open concept house, looking towards kitchen table. Dissolve to memory of seeing same girl at table, paper strewn about, holding a coffee cup in both hands

Dissolve back to Gord wandering through the house, finish song with him walking out the front door, door left open (some might say jaradoor), camera stays inside and sweeps through house as furniture disappears much like the way the lights come on, and people appear in the Something On video.
Summer's Killing Us...Gord in a Hawaiin shirt and shorts, sandals, strumming an acoustic in a lawn chair, shades and hat. Papa Sinclair bbq'ing with all the kids running around the lawn. Robby tring to put together the volleyball/badminton net set for the kids. Paul (probably drunk) sitting at the picnic table pouring himself another drink, with a Player's light, King size in his mouth, and Johnny....gee, let's see...hitting on the neighbours wife over the fence, while her husband is working in their garden. All their wives are there, preparing the salads and stuff. It all takes place in the backyard of the bathouse...What do you think?

Yeah, Lake Fever always seemed to have built right in some very natural edit/transition points for a video treatment, especially in the chorus. In relation to the above idea, it would be interesting to see the visuals of the song progress from the campfire to successively larger performance venues then finally back to the campfire as if nothing ever changed.

Maybe. But yeah I was always expecting Lake Fever to be both a single and have a video. Oh well. Freak Turbulence it was.
Ultra Mundane or Leave. wooot!

Yes. Good call. I'd love to see runny eggs in slow motion, as well as a sneeze in a motorcycle helmet.

Roy, you hit it right on the head with those picks!

I'm also thinking Tiger The Lion might be kinda cool
fire in the hole with epic war scenes (kind of like faith no more's video for 'a small victory') and a live version for the audio for added intensity

Yeah true - as cool as that is I'd still love a crack at it.

Gotta love the lofty pines matches...
