Lance, it looks like the Hipbase is bigger than we know..

For everyone in the Toronto area that listen to 102.1 The edge..you'll know what I am talking about, but read on anyways.

For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about.. There is a program called "The ongoing history of New Music, hosted by Alan Cross, a big wig at the radio station. Pre-LBU Alan did "The ongoing History of the Tragically Hip. They replayed it about 6 months ago, but I was working and missed it. I emailed Alan and asked him if he could put it on the website (www.edge.ca), he told me he would, but not until he added some....finishing touches. Not that it matters..but I told him I was a member of the Hipbase, A forum to discuss the Tragically Hip (and gave him the URL). Well, the ongoing history of the Tragically hip has found it's found it's way onto the website.

Part 1: http://www.edge.ca/ongoing_history/sp_t ... ly_hip.cfm

Part 2: http://www.edge.ca/ongoing_history/sp_t ... y_hip2.cfm

Now, Most of us know pretty much everything about the hip..then again, some of us don't, this will fill you in...up until LBU.

***NOTE*** At the end of part two, there's an area of links that's got a purple background...

Merry Christmas.
Very cool indeed! That was an interesting read.. I didnt know about the Sarah McLachlan songs, did they ever see the light of day? I guess not, I imagine I would of heard of them by now. Emergency and Greasy Jungle together, Id like to hear that, she has a very soothing voice, I think they would make a great duet. It was a good documentary, but they could defintely use an updating, I think we should email Alan Cross and ask him to do an updated version for his radio show, which I really like by the way, they run it every Sunday morning in London on FM96. That was nice that they plugged the Hipbase, gotta spread the word. Hip Rules! :thumb:
Wow, very cool
Thank You!
That was a very cool article...thanks!
Peanut butter, bread, and beer - now these are my kind of guys :thumb:
what is a .cfm?
it stands for cold fusion
The Darkest Canuck Wrote:what is a .cfm?

Short for cubic feet per minute, a measurement of the velocity at which air flows into or out of a space
I've wanted for a long time for this show to be rerun. Thanks so much.

I thought that the version of Emergancy with Sarah on back up was recorded especially for the first World Vision album. Huh. That's pretty damn cool.

Cheers

Pat
That is pretty cool, man...good for you for pushing them to get it done!! A nice present indeed Mr. 21 (sorry I don't know your name).
I'm glad to get some feedback, After I posted it I thought it wouldn't be as big of a deal...but..it still is. Glad to give something back.
awesome read, cheers.
We get the ongoing history of new music here in Winnipeg, and I have heard the first part of the Hip. But not the second.

Great read.
I emailed Alan, thanking him ofcourse..also I asked him about the possibility for a part 3..from LBU to right now..waiting for an answer.

I did the same thing, hopefully something will come from it. The Hip story is a long way from over, but it needs telling to the present day, alot has happened since. Particularly some of their best work to date.
