This list is more-or-less permanent in my books:
1. NOIS. I don't think it's as good a pure song as Nautical, but has sentimental value, and besides, it IS an absolutely killer tune, not to mention their signature number.
2. Nautical Disaster. The only other song in the catalogue that can be considered truly 'definitive' of what the band is about.
3. Scared. Haunted and haunting. 'As kids wade through the blood out to it to play...' And then there's the devastating, cynical blast of the closing lines, rendering all the more tragic what has gone before.
4. So Hard Done By. Simple, but simply perfect: a wonderful portrait of souls gone to seed. And what a vocal.
5. Fiddler's Green. Touching, muscular yet elegant; but #5 is the hardest one to pick. Opiated, Montreal, Trunk, Yer Everywhere, and Poets are all lurking in the weeds.
