Hipbasers help! All I know is I have this partial lyric stuck in my head! Please help! I believe it's the beginning of the chorus:

"Coooool water....."

That's it...and its driving me nuts! I think it's from a 70's classic rock tune (harmony, power chords etc) but I can't place it, probably from something really common, used in numerous movie soundtracks and the like.

Any help is appreciated....particularly before I loose it!! and if anyone's got any lyrics that are just stuck in their heads i'll do what I can to give you some help with yours! Usually I'm pretty good with this kind of stuff but not today!

Thanks,
Aaron
Sorry for all the exclamation marks!
Smoke on the Water ? maybe?

i think you are gonna to have to give use more than that.

^ that is a talking heads song.

now that i think about it, my first guess was wrong
no...i definately know 'smoke on the water'

this tune is more melodic and lighter (allman bros.) rather than raw and rawk (deep purple)

as for more, that's why i'm stuck...i've got no more to go on.
I think the snippet changing channels or in a commercial or something
Thanks Mark
Is it a male or female singer?

Joni Mitchell - Cool Water
Beach Boys - Cool Water
Male.
I'll check out that Beach Boys tune. Thanks Chris,
Aaron
I know its in the first line of CCR's Green River, awesome tune even if its the wrong song. :thumb:
ok it wasn't the Beach Boys either....
here goes CCR!!
Thanks,
Aaron
Ummm...Eddie Money's "Gimme Some Water"? It was released in 1977 on the LP "Life for the Taking".

"Gimme some water!
‘Cause I - shot a man on the Mexican border.
Cool, cool water…
Gimme some water.
I - need a little water…"

Gotta be the one... :thumb:

Ok so I've apparently led us all on a wild goose chase (although I have listened to some great songs with the phrase 'cool water' in them). My apologies but overall the mystery has been solved!

The song is: 'Who Are You' by The Who!

It was pointed out to me last night while drinking with friends, I apparently had the tune right but the lyrics wrong! Humming or singing a tune over the Internet is still a ways off though.

I know, I know...nowhere in that song do the words 'cool water' appear but as i mentioned I only heard a snippet of the song so I didn't really make it out clearly.

Thanks to the Hipbasers who helped out and I would recommend checking out any of the tunes mentioned above....all solid.

As for me, I'm just going to keep listening to the song over and over till I get sick of it!!!
Take it easy,
Aaron
WTF? Confusedcratch: Don't tell me you thought you were hearing "coooool water...cool-cool water..."

There are three (3) things you need to do:
  • 1.) Immediately go to The Archive of Misheard Lyrics and enter the details of your mis-perception into their database; it's definitely a cake-taker.

2.) Prepare yourself to graciously accept any and all Tool Points that may be administered by the Tool Police, should they become aware of this thread.

3.) Voluntarily double the number of any Tool Points you may be awarded if you heard the "snippet" of this song on the television program C.S.I. and failed to mention that relevant factor.

(edit=sp)
the tool police are aware of this thread and will be reviewing the audio evidence and gathering testimony before making a ruling.
RULING

Person(s) involved: anesthesiologist

After reviewing the evidence, I feel that it is appropriate to issue you one (1) tool point for your lyrical error regarding the song ''Who Are You'' by The Who.

However, if you heard the clip of this song on the television program C.S.I. and failed to mention that relevant factor when enlisting the help of your peers, the number of tool points issued to you for this infraction will be automatically increased to three (3).

I feel that this judgement is just, as this is your first offence. Accordingly, I do not expect another infraction to occur, and if this is the case, you may request a pardon after the period of one (1) month from today (18 Dec 2004).

This is a final ruling. There is no appeal process available to you.
interesting, i like to see his badge
I accept the ruling of the Tool Police, however I did not hear the clip during any form of C.S.I. (LV, Miami or NY) and I request that my points be held at 1 (one) for the duration.

I believe that I heard the clip during at commericial for Jack FM (a radio station here in Vancouver) and I am confident in my belief that they only played 'who are you' which I misheard as 'cool water' since I was flipping channels and just by-passed the offending channel. Also the offending commerical only played that particular snippet and I assure all observing parties that if I heard more I would have solved this conundrum on my own.

I have already expressed my regret at this incident occuring, this is a first offence and I would like to remind the Tool Police that there was no malicious intent to either discredit any Hipbaser or to waste any particular Hipbaser's time.

I await the Tool Police's ruling in this matter.

Thank you,
Aaron
BTW can I see your badge?
