Who would you like to see doing some Hip material?

Here are a few of mine:

"Courage" posthumously by Frank Sinatra "Hey its Courage baby, and it couldn't come at a worst time!"

"Nautical" by Gordon Lightfoot. Interesting contrast of canuck artists doing songs about nautical disasters.

"Springtime in Vienna" by the pearl jam of canada, Pearl Jam; edgy smart lyrics that I could see Eddie Vedder getting into.

Material Issue's version of "Escape is at Hand" ; what they took from their meeting with the Hip.

Thoughts?
The Trews did a half cover of Hundredth Meridian when they played at Acadia in frosh week this year.. It was basically like a Hip-rant, only they just segwayed into Meridian from one of their songs (I forget off the top of my head what it was, but they did a really good job...)... I'd like to hear them do a studio cover of it...
Stereophonics cover of Fiddler's Green was kick-ass :thumb:
Neil Young-38 Years Old

Big Sugar-NOIS (think about it, they can still do the "Gordie baby" line!)

Junkhouse-Blow At High Dough

The Illuminati-At The Hundredth Meridian

C'mon-Fire In The Hole

Wintersleep-Mean Streak

Gordon Lightfoot-Scared

Rush-50mc

Sarah Harmer-Ahead By A Century (acoustic)
Does anybody have these available for download. Is it on the 100th meridian server. These would make a great mix cd.
God i'm an idiot, Completely misread the post.

Come on, Frank Sinatra!!!
My 1st would be Emm Gryner covering ABAC...sweet sweet Emm.

Leonard Cohen reading Nautical would be cool too.

and for fun, there is always the hope that some 80's rockers would come back and cover Fire In The Hole...funny stuff there.
Emm Gryner is the hottest! Seen her live with Holly McNarland and fell in love.
You can't have a woman cover Ahead by a Century. It doesn't work.

You find me an adolescent male who's ahead by a century, and I'll take that back. But until then, this is a song to sing to a girl.
IOD - Pearl Jam

Fiddler's - U2
Manic Street Preachers - It's a Good Life if you don't Weaken

Radiohead - Scared

R.E.M - At The Hundredth Meridian

Ron Sexsmith - Pigeon Camera
Bands I would pay good money to see preform "100th Meridian"

Bjork

Rage Against the Machine

Dave Matthews

Nine inch Nails

Beck

OAR

Gomez

Mettallica

Beastie Boys

i really don't care what you think, this is a beautiful song, and what makes it is the vocal melody, which makes it perfect for a female to sing armed only with her acoustic guitar. :thumb:
Interestingly enough, I don't really care what you think, either.

Mind you, I'm making a significant assumption by saying that.

I saw Emm Gryner open for another band in Montreal about a year ago. She kicked ass. I had never heard of her before that, but she was great. Who cares if she's a chick? I think she would do a great cover of ABAC. Lots of woman have covered "male" tunes, and vice versa. Good music should have no gender.

I will retire from my soapbox now.
