I live downtown, don't really need a car, so I walk about 30/35 minutes to school or work everyday. So far, I've been able to play it off tough and go without a hat or toque, but wowzers: it's now officially cold.
We've also got about 15 cm's of snow on the ground.

I would say it has arrived here also. I live in the Grey/Bruce area. I have had to shovel the drive way 2 times already. And there is more snow on the way today, tomorrow, and right through to Sunday
The hammer is going up to zero today. So far this winter, we may have had maybe 2 cm which have already melted
That's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!
Its +5 right now in Calgary and is supposed to hit a high of +8 later today. When I moved here last year the last thing I thought I'd be doing is riding my bike to work in late December.
Chinooks rule!
Chinooks do indeed rule. That's the great thing about Calgary... -30 one day +10 the next. And if you're jonsin for some snow during the Chinooks all ya gotta do is drive up to the mountains.
Speaking of which, I recall a "winter" thread around here somewhere and in it I epressed my love of the season. This past weekend is a classic example of why. 35cms of new snow overnight up at Sunshine and I was one of the first ones into the lot on Saturday morning. Storm blew off and we were left with over a foot of fresh snow and clear blue skies. Doesn't get much better than that. I still have a shit eating grin from the weekend. Winter RULES!!

Yhea I knew it felt cold here... but not THAT cold. Man did winter ever come early this year in Ottawa....
Haha....welcome to Vancouver, the mild, wet west coast. Its currently +10, and is in no hurry if dipping much lower. The closest Ive come to a REAL canadian winter in the last few years is heading up to the local mountain for some boarding. Madness.

so far Mother Nature is having severe mood swings in Winnipeg. Our winter started pretty mildly, then it got pretty chilly - hitting around the late -20's with the windchill most days. But then today it is -2 all of a sudden. Apparently this is a one time deal because tomorrow is supposed to be -27 with the windchill. I can't keep track of this crap weather anymore. I have to pretty much check the weather updates every hour to see if I have to plug my car in that night or not.
But I should stop my bitching because it could always be worse. Come January-Feb. I am sure we will be around -40 with the windchill. So I should enjoy this now while I still can
I wouldn't mind having more snow here though...it's the only time this city looks "clean".

Nah, Portage. Studies show there's 43% fewer snot-rocketers compared to Alexandria. In this temperature they freeze before impact. It's brutal.
