That's an interesting debate, das_hips. Pearl Jam is my band; even my love for the Hip can't compare to my love for Pearl Jam, who I've seen live twelve times and for whom driving nine hours is nothing these days. Mike McCreedy, meanwhile, is an undeniable guitar hero; his lead work is amazing, but it's his live performances that make him the legend that he is. That said, Robbie dominates the In Between Evolution album, and there's no doubt he's a live force to be reckoned with. Moreover, he used to be my neighbour...so really, I have to take that into consideration don't I? 8) So where does this leave me? I don't know. I think I'll still give the edge to 'Creedy--just finished listening to last year's 3 1/2 hour State College show--but I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say.

Steve...because really, what better way to put off reading a book about consumer activism than talking about Pearl Jam/the Tragically Hip?
Question is .. .who would he work with?

My guess... Craig Northey & Pat Steward formerly of The Odds.

We share the same love. I've seen PJ over 60 times.

Although somewhat equal in talent on their albums, I would say that McCready's live soloing ability is what sets him apart from Baker for me.

If it's gonna be someone from the Odds, why not Steve Drake? He's been involved in the production of a couple of hip records I think.

But any member of the Odds would be ok by me.

*bump* I just ran across this article: http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2005/01/1409.cfm

looks like northey is gonna do the singing, i cant wait to hear the end product.

I can only hope! That would have been so perfect. Can you imagine a record wit the raw energy and southern bluesy fury of Road Apples or the more contemporary heavy rock of IBE with no vocals to distract from the guitarwork? He's no Yngwie Malmsteen, but he must have some damn good songs if he's pumping his own money into the project, and I would have thought he wrote them for himself to play, not for someone else to sing. But I'm sure the record will amaze nonetheless.

Don't know a whole lot about this guy... thinking 'The Odd's' makes me think 'Heterosexual Man'... and they had another hit too... I think...

But the guy has recorded with Wide Mouth Mason and Colin James? Good company... I have faith... should be interesting... Robbie drove the bus and held the fort... it is HIS stuff... can't wait...
"The Truth Untold" was a great Odds tune. too.

This should be an awesome collaboration.

If anyone is a fan of Booker T & the MG's, The Meters, MMW, you should check out The Odds' project called SHARKSKIN. Awesome stuff.

When there was an NHL, didn't SHARKSKIN play during Canucks games? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Sharkskin was one of the opening bands at NYE 99, they put on a very funky show. One of the better opening bands that night.
