Any of you guys ever hear of this, teased in stereo down under? I created a Tea Party bootleg from a MuchMusic I&I 6 years ago, it is real good quality and I lstened to it a lot back then, but I kinda forgot all about it. About a month ago I got an email from a dude in Australia who loves the Tea Party and had a copy of my show. He applied "Tisdu" to it and wanted to send me a copy since it was my show. I got it last week and it really sounds great, especially cranked up.

Here's a "how to" about it, scroll down to the How To [tisdu] to read about it. The short and sweet is that you add 5 100ths of a second silence to the beginning of every right channel. This gives an airy, large kinda sound to the show.

I'm gonna try this to some of my Hip shows. Purists, you don't have to worry, I have no intentions of distributing any of the shows I do this to, it's more for my own curiosity.

From what I read in the link you posted, it's not intended for stereo recordings, only mono. In theory, it sems like an effective way to enhance a monaural recording.

Most of the Hip shows I've DLd have been stereo recordings and I use the Nero 6 stereo-widening filter to when I want a more pronounced separation.

How do you know if a recording is stereo or mono?

Most recent recordings were probably recorded in with stereo mics and will be noted in the text file that accompanies torrents as with the following examples:

Adam Hudson's 7.23.04 Darien Lake recording:
"Source: AT835b (Shotguns)..."

markslog's 09.18.04 Detroit recording:
"Core Sound HEBs (w/bass filter)..."

Chris Olds' 11.27.04 JLC London recording:
"MICS Used: Powered Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone (made by: Giant Squid Audio Lab)..."

Each one identifies the mics as plurals (indicating more than one) or by including "stereo" in their description.

Most of the older recordings I checked simply state "source unknown" so sampling a few tracks through headphones may give you an idea if they're stereo or mono recordings. If you insert the 5/100 second as the 'tisdu' process instructs and it sounds bad, it may have been an original stereo recording.

No harm in trying it, though!
