jokes...just jokes.
Seriously though, I just have a few thoughts that have been going through my head lately. The first is how much I have been really digging the song M@W the last few times seeing it live. That is one hell of a great song live and I don't see it getting the credit it deserves.
The other thought is simply how lucky we, as rabid Hip fans, are to have the Hip as part of our lives. It struck me last night while I was watching Chris's DVD (beautiful job man!), holy shit, am I lucky to have seen this band 18 times now, and who knows how many more. They haven't bothered to get caught up in the typical rock star traps...drugs, booze, fighting...they have simply remained good friends who do what they do for the love of it.
Nevermind the bickering about boring setlists and what not, how about we treasure what we have here, while we still have it. Seeing them in Calgary just a bit ago renewed the joy and excitement that had, to a certain degree, slipped away. Sure I was still a huge fan and bought M@W and IVL, but something slipped away. It's back, and it feels great.
Let's also bask in the glory of bit torrents and those who create and seed them. These truly are the glory days of all things Hip!
Can I get an aAMEN!
AMEN!
I was thinking the same thing...your favorite band still together, no bull s, still making albums (as opposed to singles with some other songs on there too), touring, rinse, repeat...
There was definetely something special in the air during the Calgary show. It was the best show I have ever seen. Right in the middle of Locked I realized it. That version of Locked was unreal! It really does make one hopeful that they might be around for awhile yet because they are so on this tour. Very grateful.

Well said. I have never lost a degree of my joy and excitement for the band, but I have occasionally wondered if their drawing power was slipping. I think it's still there and the IBE CD and tour have definetly gotten me pumped up. I am very impressed and throughly enjoying all the trading and bit torrents that have been happening.

What is this DVD of the Detroit show?

.....Don't ask.....
To answer the title of the thread; I'm giving up on the multi angle DVD. I'm sick of all the BS that has come along with trying to do it. (Billy, I know the title was in jest. tragicallymike, relax, I was joking this time. I don't need you to tell me I'm a jerk, you've done it enough times already.)
Instead, I'll post the same clip from each of the four angles, I'll run a poll, and the angle that gets the most votes will be released. Hopefully that will put an end to all the crap around here with relation to the Detroit DVD. The other angles will disappear into the unknown, perhaps to be rescued some day, in a world far, far away from here.
Hey Chris,
What is your website again,
I lost it,
Mick

Indeed you were very right about it being in jest...if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
The DVD, well fuck it...put out what you want, don't put out what you don't want, and to hell with the rest.
Now, on to the post at hand...please share some thoughts about the Hip, the current tour, the last 20 years, your involvement with the trading community (positive please, we've heard enough about all the negative crap going around)...really anything.
It would sure be nice to get everybody back on the rails and on the same page. :thumb:

That is the starting point for all the pages that I've created. Links are in the top right of the page.
Well said Billy... although I'm sure Chris just about had a heart attack seeing the title of this thread!
I've only been at this site a fairly short time, but it's great to connect in some small way with many other Hip fans like myself.
I've only seen them 4 times, and I wish I could have seen them more, but it sounds like they'll be around for a while, so I'm sure I'll get my wish!
Anyway, the best part of the Toronto show I saw recently was the chance to introduce two other people, my sister and her husband, to the magic of the live Hip experience. That was almost as special as the show itself. The best part was during the 100th Meridian... that's one song my sister knew and liked, but she couldn't believe how much better it was live.
I am also thankful to all who have been posting torrents, pictures, and whatever else for the fans to share. Even though sometimes it doesn't seem like it, believe me when I say your efforts are truly appreciated.
Come on everyone, let's spread the word... love, life, and the Hip!!!
