While bored at lunch, i searched Das Hip on Ebay. The first thing I did was kick myself, as I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...86762&rd=1
I had one of those cards, until I saw the Hip at the Metro Centre and threw it on stage.... (hey, I was young and stupid back then!) I never thought i could have gotten $$$ for it now.
I also got to thinking.... as usual, there's tons of autographed stuff on there. I don't think I would want to *buy* an autograph. Call me sentimental, but the autograph should be something that I've earned and gotten myself..... to capture a moment. By buying it from someone else, it cheapens it to me.......
Maybe that's just me.
OK... I literally have a dozen of these cards, in mint condition, in a box in the basement. And this guy is getting $30 for one??? You can go to a sports card shop and probably get it for a buck!

Goofy to reply to my own reply, but... here's the question... should I put one up for auction on Ebay too?? Is that ethical? It's not like I'm putting up concert tickets... any thoughts from my fellow Hipbasers? Your opinion on the matter is valued...
Rory
Hell yeah - why not.
You are not hurting anyone in anyway by selling these, right?
It is just like selling a picture you have hanging on your wall, or a pair of shoes that looked good in the 80's, but now - not so good.

i dont see why not,
the trading card market is wierd, cards are only worth what someone else is willing to pay for em, and if the hip are turning a .30 card into a 30 dollar card, why not jump on that! i would!
(now if the hip only made a song about rahib "rocket" ismail, i'd be loaded)
Wow ... I wonder what my original 1952 Parkie of ole Bill is worth then?

Well, despite what Card guides will tell you, you're only going to get what somebody is willing to pay. Often, the guides are in a different time zone... but if you find the right guy, for a card like that: big money.
Whats the big deal on selling tickets on ebay?
I have bought and sold and don't think it's a big deal.
I agree... why not! You are not intentionally GOUGING anyone, just seeing what it is worth... what people will pay!
As for tickets on Ebay, I have never sold, but I have also purchased them previously. Unfortunately not everyone in the world is as kind and honest as the fellow fans on hipbase (which they truly are, and it is so refreshing and amazing!!!) ... some people WILL gouge you... and I myself have allowed it. I have in return however, received fantastic seats that I wasn't able to score myself... though at a steep price. Would it be great if someone on the base was selling them at face value? ABSOLUTELY! But if nobody is, ebay is a pretty certain road to golden seats.
Try your local collector shop. I don't think the card is worth much unless your a big Hip fan. I walked into a hobby shop looking for this card about four years ago. The guy had two and he charged me a buck $1 a piece.

It's too bad that this looks nothing like Gord, because this is pretty damn cool.

Is that meant to be from their performance at Woodstock 99?

I think it's a close resemblance to Paul Giamatti.
