Now, that's the funniest thing I've read all week.

It just wouldn't be a Hip show without it Big Grin But it's not like it is a constant odor throughout the concert. It comes and goes so it has never bothered me one bit. I found it worse sitting in a bar all night with everyone just smoking cigarettes.

We smelled it BEFORE the show. Right before the hip came on, like at least 10 mins, it was a STRONG smell. Everytime the door to the outside opened you could SMELL IT. It was like "I'm getting a contact buzz off the hip!" lol

Yeah, Wendy. The scent was wafting through the air. We smelled it as soon as we went in. Funny thing, that night. Lindsay sparked up a cigarette (read: Marlboro Light). Just as she was taking a drag we saw a bouncer reach over at us. We thought we were going to be tossed out on our arses. Seven hour drive for nothing. He reached right past us to a girl on our left who was smoking the infamous "Hippie Lettuce". Didn't even notice the legal stuff. Thank God for small miracles.
skippy the wonder dog Wrote:It's a little different if the smell makes you sick to your stomach, and the guy behind you is generating huge clouds of the shit. Then it's not a matter of being uptight, as sticking the title "lighten up" on your post implies. It's a matter of having to leave before you puke on the poor sap in front of you.

First of all, I never meant to imply anything with my subject header...it asked for a subject and I just put one in. I never know what to put for those things, so I just put whatever. I didn't realize people took the subject heading so sersiously. I honestly wasn't saying anyone was uptight. I'm completely new at this whole concept of forums but I know enough not to come in an start judging people or anything. Maybe I should just start leaving my subject fields blank ...

Anything in the extreme case is horrible - I agree, I would puke too if the guy behind me was smoking up non-stop throughout the whole concert. I was just saying that in general - from the shows I've been to - the smell comes and goes thoughout the concert and doesn't really seem to aggravate anyone. But if it did, those people have every right to ask them to stop or talk to one of the arena staff. Once the Hip start playing though, I don't really care what is happening around me. Smile
I'm a live-and-let-live kind of guy when it comes to stuff like this, and I think the last thing I'd advocate would be going to the arena staff.

I'm just amazed at how few people are willing to accept that for some people, this can be a real problem. And I agree, you can just let people know it bothers you, but I'm also smart enough to know that doesn't always work. Despite what some seem to think, asshole behavior isn't limited to drunks.

Who knows? Maybe the letter writer in this case was just a self-righteous twit. There's no shortage of those nowadays. Smile

I went to the "Evening With" show in Edmonton by myself, and some dude beside me was generous enough to ask if I wanted some smoke, which I graciously accepted. I didn't bring because who the hell smokes by themselves at a concert? If that's a brainless then thank goodness for them!

  Whatever.  I'd still like to take these loser stoners who interrupt my concert experience and run them over with a truck. The ones I'm talking about aren't even there for the Hip. They are there because it's an excuse to get high! They are the jackass dumbasses who scream for "KillerWhaleTank" all night long.
i`ve been to a lot of concerts and i almost always offer the green to people around me...and i have never screamed for killer whale tank to be played and i am not there just to get high...thats a wide paintbrush you`re using tiger
Well, I don't want anyone smoking anything near me at a concert, but if it's gotta be something, better the green than the nicotine... But whatever you're smoking, do not friggin ash it into the jacket I've just placed on my chair...

My sister has had 2 jackets ruined at Hip shows from the a-holes behind us butting out into her jacket. If that's the end result, maybe I'd rather they had a 26er and puked on it... at least that can be washed.
A always offer to people around me too. Just a friendly gesture. Not like I strap them down, plug their nose and force hoots. Its a friggin Hip concert. Whining about pot smoke at a Hip show is like whining about sand at the beach.
tigerthelion...

I thought this was the most 'brainless' thing I've ever read on ANY web board..

"I hate it when dumb f'in brainless pothead strangers come to me and ask if I want some. If I wanted some, I would have brought it myself. There are quite a few brainless morons at Hip shows. "

... then I read your next post.
Yeah - I can't frickin stand it when some fellow concertgoer is generous enough to offer me a free toque or two of an effervescent consumable that is often worth more per gram than gold, for crying out loud.

Tiger - sounds to me like you are a perfect candidate to give the Big Tweeds a try....seems you could use a little more mello in your yello!

P.S. Hard to believe, I know, but 'live music' somehow sounds even better under the soft, warm spell of Cannabis the Enchantress....
pot smokers don't ruin concerts...

NARCS ruin concerts!

:rambo:
....so here's a picture of a doggie coke-head.

Up here North of the border we call a fuzzy warm hat a "toque" or a touqe I'm not really sure how it's spelt. As for a free toke, I'm all over those. I wish at the Calgary show the drunk idiots behind us would've shared some of the green goods. That would've made thier assholishness a little more tolerable. Wink

As for the Saskatoon show, well the parties involved in that trip all came packing so there was no wishing, only partaking. And offers were made to those nerby, accepted by some, declined by others but all had a great time. :thumb:

"My choice is what i choose to do
And if i'm causing no harm
It shouldn't bother you
Your choice is who you choose to be
And if your causin' no harm
Then you're alright with me"
At the Vancouver show, they didn't let us light 'em up till the Hip started, so Scar had to compete with the click of a million lighters.
