Just bought the new U2. Holy crap is it ever good. I thought their last album was a nice return to form, but they've really outdone themselves this time out. After giving the disc three full spins I've decided that it just might be their best record since Achtung Baby.

I also picked up the new Nirvana box set which includes a whopping 68 previously unreleased songs, a DVD and a cool 60-page booklet. It's Christmas in November! Woohoo!!!

This Nirvana box set is pretty rad. As soon as I get money I'm actually going to buy. Same with the U2 album.

The rehearsal of Teen Spirit is off the hook. However, the acoustic demos further cement my take on Cobain: behind all the guitars and the feedback there was nothing buy soul. "Unplugged" showed the potential the band had to stay, if only the man had his shit together.

Cheers

That's exactly what Bono has said. :thumb:
Finding it pretty boring right now, I will give it more time. nice songs but nothing Anthemic about any of them.
I knew I loved it because it took a while to sink in...After the first listen, i didnt like it, a few more listens and ive become hooked...that's the way i always am with albums i love...same thing happened with day for night for me, it took me a while to get into, but when i did, i couldnt put it down...
my faves right now are miracle drug and crumbs on your table.

I disagree. Miracle Drug, City of Blinding Lights, and Crumbs from Your Table are as anthemic as they come. On first listen I wasn't quite sure yet, but after a couple dozen spins I'm absolutely hooked. This is their best work in years.
just picked up the new U2 as well, I thought it was pretty good, not their strongest effort but I really enjoyed City of Blinding Lights and Crumbs from your Table and One Step Closer, overall Id give it :thumb: .
Its funny, I started listening to it in my car the first few times, didn't find it all that great, last night I listened to it at home and I loved both sessions. It is growing on me big time.
So I went and bought the special box version of the CD today. It came with what they call a limited edition book and an bonus track on the CD. Fast Cars the bonus song is solid. However, unless you are a die hard fan, dont shell out the 40 dollars for this. The book it pretty weak. Just a bunch of writing from the band. So I pretty much paid the extra money for a bonus track. Oh well...
