So it can only be a matter of time before an American network picks up on this ratings cow... so who's it gunna be: Lincoln, Kennedy, King, Edison, FDR, Matt Groening, Mr. Rogers?
I'm thinking George Washington might win it...

Dame, I actually think I read somewhere that a station is putting the show together. I am going to guess Washington or Lincoln will win.
Thomas A. Edison probably had the most enduring impact on society. Washington is just a sentimental choice.
It better not be Kennedy. A second rate president who is remembered for his charisma...that reminds me of somebody more recent...but I can't quite put my finger on it...
Who do they have that compares to Don Cherry?
I'm guessing maybe George W Bush or Bill O'reilly or Al Franken for Greatest American.

Seriously though, I think Ali would get a lot of votes in the US. So would JFK. So would Ronald Reagan.
I'd put my money on Kennedy, no question.
For some reason people just love to worship dead presidents

Hmmm. second rate president with lots of talent and tons of charisma, a politically, ambitious wife....you wouldnt be talking about Bubba and the second coming of Angela Landsbury's character in The Manchurian Candidate, now would you?
I think either Joe Buck, Al Michaels, Howard Cosell or Yogi Berra would qualify to be the "American Don Cherry"
I'd say Kennedy or Lincoln.
A couple of longshot candidates from the sporting world:
Ali
Jackie Robinson
Jesse Owens...
M.
Ali... damn that's a good one.
Hadn't that of that, but he's got the political and popular appeal to take it.
Oh and don't forget Martin Luther King

I didn't, he's in the first post.

And he'd certainly get my vote.
Don't forget Benjamin Franklin - scientist, inventor, statesman, printer, philosopher, musician, and economist. He's a lock for any such list of candidates.

Sorry I was reading too fast

He would get my vote also.
I agree with Mr Horrible...Franklin is even better a choice than Edison.
