Okay, I know alot of people are tired of polls right about now... but hopefully a completely new poll with never-before-done content will rescue the mighty poll from its plummet into loathing. lol.

Situation: I have thought for a little while of changing the name of my site. It is currently called "A Dope Deal In The Middle Of A Cornfield." (For those who haven't seen it yet, check it out, so you'll know what you're helping me out on) It also has a drug-reference in the title which may not be acceptable to everyone. I never thought my site would get as far as it did when I started it but alot of people have emailed me with comments and information. (By the way, everyone, thanks) Anyway, the name is too long.

I have some ideas I was thinking about, but they can't be used anywhere else nor on the web except in the Hip's lyrics. I searched for "wooden stars" and "starpainters" and others as possibilities but found them online as different stuff, a band, etc. I want something completely new, something distinctly "Hip". Maybe a name that has to do with lyrics or writing or something similar. So, seeing though it's a Hip site and you people are all Hip fans, I want to hear your opinions.... plus; I plan in the future to get an actual domain, so a shorter name would be better... "www.a-dope-deal-in-the-middle-of-a-cornfield.com" wouldn't work... lol... plus DDMC is taken from a bunch of other things... And the name needs to be quick and unforgettable...

So, in this poll, I have listed some ideas. I also included a "songtitle.com" option and an "other" option. If you select either of these please post the song title or other phrase you're thinking of. And comment on others suggestions, so I don't have to make more and more polls. lol. I know some of you may not want to bother with something like this, maybe you think it's unimportant but I'd really appreciate it if ya helped out with it. This is literally a site for all of us, not just me, not just The Hip, but for you long-time fans and for people who just discovered the Hip or will in the future... This topic could also function as a debate as to the coolest Hip lyric or Downie-invention...

Sorry for the long explanation, lol

How about something to do with Irrelevances? In addition to being a nod to a song only true Hip fans know about (the live CBC version anyway), it would be ironic and appropriately self-deprecating considering your once-fledgling site has turned into an essential lyrics warehouse (it was fun helping you figure out some of the unreleased ones! Pushed me to pay closer attention to the lyrics than ever before!).

Yes...Every Irrelevance Imaginable, or Essential Irrelevances...YES!! That's my vote. Essential Irrelevances.
Relating to my original suggestion, another obscure-reference-doubling-as-ironic-commentary would be something to do with the title of Not So Necessary...

...or you could call it the Cookie Factory...that's SO Gord...

...or maybe something as obvious as The Trunk? IE not just a reference to the song, but also a convenient reference to a place of storage for old valuables?

edit: by the way, I gotta say, I'm not sayin' your ideas SUCK...but I don't think any of them are quite as good, as well suited, to either you or the site as your current moniker. This has to be SOLID if you're gonna invest the future of the site in it!! Just one man's opinion.
How bout' "Krazy LB's Shack of Swing'n Songs 'n Stuff"

If not, I'm with GT, "Every Irrelevance" works.

PERFECT!

That's exactly what I mean. I'm gonna be paying for this and maintaining it for the long-term, not just letting it go one day and it goes defunct...

and I know yer not saying my ideas suck, but they kinda do. I just want something "Hip" and clever... "Cookie Factory" is a really good one.. I never even thought of that...
I voted for "songtitle", but a lyric may be even better.

I love "Heroincredible" but it may be mistaken by the uninformed to read "Heroin-credible", which puts takes you back to the drug reference thing.

My first thought was Impossibilium.com, but it's taken. Of course, you could always go for a ".net" or a ".org"...

Another quick one that came to mind is AnotherMidnight.com which is available and somewhat appropos...don't you do a lot of your work after midnight?

Also, CemeterySideroad.com is available.

Just a few random thoughts while taking a brief break form my daily duties.

sorry...Here's some real ones.....pretty boring though...

hip-carta.com

hip-compendium.com

hip-lexicon.com
You could always go with the old standard.
Hiplyrics.com
Let's see we have....

hipbase.com
hipfans.com
hipcovers.com

Hiplyrics.com - would fit ...just as well

simple and proper
why not integrate it with this site?
I like the ideas that incorporate the hip and still describe what exactly the site is all about. Hiplyrics.com works but based on the current title and your new ideas I think you're looking for something a bit more original. If this were the case maybe you could combine lyrics or titles from different songs to work, grooveless touque's suggestion of The Trunk could be used with a number of titles or lyrics such as The Fiddler's Trunk, The Opiated Trunk, etc. Another thought that came to mind was Devotion to the Egg. Regardless of what you decide, thanks for the great site.
I nominate Grooveless as chair of the Permanent Committee on Naming Stuff.

Brazle, while we're on the subject of your site, have you ever looked at the annotated Dead lyrics site at http://arts.ucsc.edu/gdead/agdl/? I ask because this kind of approach may be useful when dealing with all the cross-referencing in GD's lyrics.
This is totally irrelevant. Call me stupid, but I can't figure out how to use the stupid quote thingy in the reply page. I just screw it up!! Help!

Anyway - I second the Cookie Factory, that's really cool and witty.

That is true... it's really the only time I can sit there and listen to a rant over and over again without people asking me stuff and bugging me or calling me, lol

Hiplyrics.com I never even thought of... it'd be simple enough but I'm not sure... I kinda wanted something I could easily build a theme on, you know? But it's definitely a possibility... I'm not crossing it off yet.

I've never seen that site before but I planned on doing something similar. Right now they're only text files because I didn't want to run out of room on Geocities... but if I get alot of space on some website plan, giving each song it's own page would be definitely considered... it'd be easier too cuz I could have all the rants done during, say, NOIS on the main page for NOIS but also have songs/rants by date or performance or both...

I believe you just click on the quote button beside the post you want to quote. If you want to quote more than one person, I usually just paste them into Notepad...

:thumb: Thanks all for not ignoring me...
How about Jacque Cartier's Every Irrelevant Cookie Factory? Maybe its a little too "artsy"
