Is any one as excited as I am about this movie coming out?

Someone on my live journal friends list just posted a movie poster for the film, it's coming out in July. I've been doing some nosing around online, which I'm very good at, and I've come up with some pics of Johnny Depp as Wonka.

I'm a huge fan of the original movie, it's like in my top 4 fave movies of all time. I've seen the original probably at least 20 or 30 times. I just love Gene Wilder as Wonka!

I'm really looking forward to seeing Depp as Wonka because I just think he's awesome. He should have won the Oscar for "Pirates..."

I also look forward to seeing what Burton does to the orginial movie because I love Tim Burton too.

Either he's gonna totally kill the original movie or he's gonna make it better.

I completely agree. I was actually having a conversation about the film last night. One of my friends is a HUGE fan of the original, and she's horribly upset about the remake. I think that Depp will be splendid, but he's such a departure from Gene Wilder. Tim Burton does good work though...really an exceptional(ly strange) filmmaker. Either way, I'm excited. Oh, and Wendy, could you PM me the link to the photos? I'm curious!

I thought the original with Wilder was a complete bore... I don't think I've ever actually sat down and watched the thing from start to finish... However... I will be first in line at the theatre to watch this movie and the sole reason why is Depp.

That photo scares me. A lot. He looks like the lovechild a deranged Charles Dickens...and some robotic woman I can't place.

You can't go wrong with Burton and Depp. This movie is gonna rock.

I worked at a marketing agency that had offices in LA/San Fran for awhile and we were privy to all films going into production. Back in 2000, it was originally cast with Nicolas Cage in the lead role. Don't know what happened but either way it's something I'm looking forward to.

I read both books when I was a kid, I LOVE Gene Wilder. I love the song "Pure Imagination" and I'm a huge fan of musicals.
