Quote:The NHL has cancelled the Feb. 12-13 all-star weekend in Atlanta because of the lockout. There's still a chance hockey will resume this year but a shortened season will need all the dates possible to squeeze in games and the four-day all-star break had to go.

Not good at all...
i believe hockey , as we have know it is over kids can you say contraction!

Ron
Fuck the NHL, bunch of millionaire whiners, owners, players and agents. The all star game has sucked the last 15 years, it's nothing but a holiday for the players, lucky to see a bodycheck in the game, players decline to play to be with their families, or golf, or what the fuck ever, only the rich can afford to attend it, NHL Team owners, their buddies, movie stars, politicians...ETC... The All Star game represents everything horrible about this game, instead of what makes it great, the talent, the fans and the competitiveness. Cancel the season, they wont see another cent of my money. I'm completely fed up with these spoiled bastards, send them to Iraq, in the middle of Fallujah, you'll see a deal hammered out in 30 seconds. Bunch of selfish whiners.
I'd LOVE to see contraction, but I don't see that happening.
I won't miss the All Star Game. I didn't watch half of last year's.

And for the record there's NO hope of a season, despite the article's politically correct stance.
NHL players need to realize the salary cap is coming. Get over it. Just have to look at football and realize its the best run league in North America.
man Im really starting to get pissed off, no allstar game, all kinds of rumours about no hockey for this year maybe 2 years. Just take the f**king cap and get on with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every sports league has one now, what do the NHL players think makes them so special and different?? Just play the dam game!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x :x :x :x :rambo:
I'd rather see some form of luxury tax, because, from the player's point of view, if I bring thousands of people to the rink, sell millions of piece of merchandise and an owner is willing to pay me $15 million, why should I only make $8 million (or whatever the cap would be)?

Who needs more than $8 million is a good question, but in my mind, if the money is being made, I'd rather see the guy whose on the ice destroying his knees, back and ankles everynight making the money than the rich owner.

As you guys can probably tell, I'm with the players in this dispute! Fight on my union brothers! (tougue in cheek)
I've stopped caring about the lockout. Yes I'd like to see some hockey, but until then, I vote for all the sports stations keeping their filthy cameras off the owners and players, bettman and goodenow, daly and saskin. If I have to see another NHLPA rep talk about the owners unwilling to negotiate, or bettman talking about cost-certainty, i might throw up on myself, uncontrollably. Is anyone else other than me disgraced by how Canadian outlets are covering this? No news is no news. There are other sports out there, with athletes, you know, oh what's that thing called, uhhhh....competing, that it...so lets show them instead of showing some millionaires complaing about some billionaires and the billionaires replying in kind. Just shut them up, its not news until they actually start talking. Until then, they are being spotlighted far too much, and they aren't worth it. I'm sick of it, and sort of ashamed by it. Thanks for reading.
this really sucks for Atlanta, the city was finally figuring out the sport and the all star game would have helped the fringe fans get excited about the sport.
I really wish the players could here some of the statements that are made here and on TSN.ca. The fans are pissed and the players don't give a rats ass. I truly hope the people that are so pissed never go to another game again. I want the players to know that they ruined hockey, and if no one goes back to the games then they will have done that. I know I'm not going back.
Screw em.
I miss the Flames. Sad

Last year was the most fun I've ever had as a hockey fan.

I'm almost to the point of not even caring anymore. The whole thing is a joke. Trevor Linden is the last person who should be talking about the player's rights because he's been stealing money for the last 6 years or so.

Guess what: the players need the owners, not the other way around. The owners are still billionaires without hockey. What are the players without hockey? For the most part, average salary citizens. I'd almost think of agreeing with the player's concerns if I had any respect for them at all, which I don't.

Now they are taking jobs away from Europeans and don't feel any guilt. What if replacement players were brought into the NHL? Would the Prongers of the world be happy with that? It's a hypothetical and it wouldn't generate much money of course but I'm sure the NHL players wouldn't be happy if someone took their jobs away from them. They are a bunch of hypocrites and I don't consider any of them good guys either! Heck, if I made 3 million dollars a year I think I could manage to visit a hospital twice a year to visit sick kids too!!!! Would that make me a HERO?

Actually they are less than average citizens because I bet half of them don't have there highschool education.

I agree with that. These players have such an inflated sense of self. They think the fans will put up with the "labour disruption" because we need them to play the game so we can enjoy it. Wrong! I voted with my pocketbook when I decided to only see the Senators on the $15 upper bowl games around Christmas. One time I was given a front-row seat as a gift, but I refuse to see them at $145 a pop for the best seats, even though I love the team. So I have been to see the Ottawa 67s half a dozen times in the past three years. Greta hockey, high spirits, high stakes, and cheaper beer than the Corel Centre.

It disappoints me that NHL venues sell out almost every night because as long as we keep feeding them millions in revenue, the players will think we came to see them, specifically. I don't, I go because I love to see the game of hockey played. Now I watch QMJHL games because the game's still the same, but even though the names on the jerseys are less dramatic, I still love to watch themn play their heart out.
