Man, I just bought my third generation iPod one year ago. Since then they've come out with the mini, the 4th generation, and now the iPod Photo. Mine is going to be obsolete by this time next year!

Have you seen the U2 I-pod ad? I'm not even sure I know what an I-pod is, and yet that ad makes me want one. Really cool stuff.

Hi all,
Apple also announced that the Canadian iTunes Music Store will open in November.
Hope to see more Hip in there when it launches. Right noe, IBE and the 'reissues' of their first few albums are up.
I like that the store has 'rare / exclusive' tracks... They have a non-album Sam Roberts song I picked up the other day. I've also picked up some from Ben Folds, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Liz Phair, Audioslave, Counting Crowes... etc.
Hope to see some Hip tracks show up!
Looking forward to checking out more Canadian music as well.

I am in the exact same position as you, save for the baby. I want them to release a version that allows you to record directly to it. What a great tool for making fan recordings it could be, or DJ's recording their live mixes, etc.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing something about the battery life of Ipods and that once it dies its almost impossible to replace? I can't remember where i read this story but there was a guy who's battery died and he had to shell out for a new I-Pod.
That's just another 'myth' the Apple haters put out there.
There are a few companies that offer replacement batteries. Self-install or send them the iPod and they'll do it for you.
Around $40 for the do-it-yourself battery and $70 installed.
Apple also does it - but it's more expensive than a 3rd party solution.
I've had my iPod for 2 years now, used at least 3 times a week - with no problems.
I do wish iPods and iTunes would play FLAC and SHN files though.

You beat me to it! Welcome aboard my soapbox Jerremy - spreading the good word of the Apple.
I'm no Mac guy, but iPods are the best thing to happen to music since CDs. I went through a number of MP3 players (a Nike/Rio, a Creative Jukebox, and an iRiver) before I finally relented and bought an iPod, and trust me folks - it is well worth the money. After a year with my iPod, I can certainly understand how Mac folks become so loyal to Apple.

Jobs said he didn't usually share data, but today he wanted to show the strong growth that the online music store has seen."

To me, the iPod is a mini version of a Mac that just plays tunes. If you like your iPod, you'll like the Mac platform. Fun, easy to use... and as you mentioned cferneyh, it makes us loyal to Apple.
