So the final Presidential debate is on tonight, and in the spirit of all those entertaining online blogs that do a play-by-play, I thought it might be fun to have a bunch of us with differing opinions offer what we think about each point or notable moments during the debate. Anybody interested? Anybody even on the site?
If anybody wants to go for it, announce your thought with an Eastern time-stamp...i.e. "9:38 pm ET: Wow, Bush sure is tense. I think I see little red flames in his eyes and those cowlicks are starting to look more and more like horns."
:thumb:
They should have called each other about wardrobe choices before they went to the debate tonight.
9:11 - The President's smirking already. And he's already given the CNN factfinders some work to do - he denies saying he doesn't think about Osama bin Laden much, but I remember when he said it!
9:16 - How does Bush not realize he has a little white bit of spittle in the corner of his lips? I can guarantee he's not being coached by a wire this time, or somebody would have pointed it out. That, and his strange habit of stopping when it sounds like he's in the middle of something.

Yeah, he's stuttering and stammering, quite entertaining.
9:22 - love how they're not afraid to dig at each other...but John Kerry, while using figures well, is speaking too loud...sounds like he's getting just a teensy bit carried away, trying to appear forceful.
Wendy...at least they're not doing the stupid blue tie-red tie thing again.
*this just in*!!!! President Bush just said "Whoo!" Wow. He thinks he's Gord!

BWAHAHAH that was SOO funny.
Also, Bush is being so damned careful with what he says! And he's all ready mispronounced a few words and used the wrong phrase.
Kerry is a
much better speaker!!!
I am in shock. Total shock. Bush just said that the "understands that now is a time in America when all people need to be treated with respect, dignity, and equality". HOW IS IT, President Bush, that you are pushing to ammend the constitution to outlawy gay marriage? I don't see how these two things can coexist. I want to cry and kick and scream. This is insane.

OMG he was just LAUGHING!
Seriously, Kerry isn't for gay marriage either so it's not like we'll get anywhere on that issue with him but I'd much still rather see him in office than Bush!
9:42
George Bush: "Our health care system is the envy of the world"
ummm...let's try Canada! There are loads of health care systems out there better than ours!
Haha...George should have remembered Homer:
"Don't worry, Marge! Our healthcare system is only second to Japan's! Canada's! Sweden's, Denmark's, well, most of Europe..."
9:55 - Kerry's calmed down a lot and I like his attack on the Republicans for not even allowing a vote on minimum wage. George Bush said "group of folks" again...somewhere an advisor is going bald FAST.
10:04 - I was gonna say Kerry was using his hands a bit too much, but I'm really digging Bush spanking the podium every three minutes. Both of them need to stick their hands in their pockets for a bit.
I think I have a new favorite Bushism
"Reading is the new civil right"
10:20pm-ish
Bush "I pray for my little girls"
I'm sure Jenna and Barbara are happy with Dad tonight!
Kerry should have gone first in the family open question...Bush had the better answer only because he got to go first, Kerry was left struggling to find different things to say.
And although I would say Kerry won the debate 60-40, Bush finished incredibly well. If he'd sounded that Presidential all debate, he would have walked away with it. Ultimately I hope most people will be able to sift through the facts and figures (Kerry used them to better effect but Bush had plenty), and look at the steady resolve of Kerry as impressing more than the folksy quips Bush supplied. It wasn't a great debate, but it was very thorough.
My fellow Americans,
I think Kerry kicked butt tonight. I also think Georgie baby just didn't cut it tonight.
I know who I am voting for. I've known who I was voting for for a long time.

I don't think Ralph Nader is running again. I don't think he got on all of ballots.
Anyway, VOTE ON NOV 2!!!!! EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT AS AN AMERICAN!
and if you live in Florida, MAKE SURE YOU VOTE THE RIGHT WAY THIS TIME!
