I'm sure some of you have heard that Ken Bigley, the British hostage in Iraq, was beheaded in the past day or so. I was seriously thinking that he was going to be let free, but alas.
I then read this today...

I'm all for a good joke, but this is taking things way to bloody far. Mr. Bigley's head was on the chopping block, and this asshole has the nerve to make such a despicable comment??
Idiot! I hope his career is ruined.
If it's the Bill Connolly I'm thinking of, he isn't talented anyway. It was a disgraceful thing to talk about in his routine and he should be scolded by the media. He's a two bit actor and comic anyway. I used to see him on PI with Bill Mahar all the time and just hated him. That is beside the point though. Even if a talented comic like Dave Chappelle or someone said the comment, it would be just as dispicable.
Billy Connolly is one of the most profane comedians in history. He makes Richard Pryor look like Mother Goose. When I was growing up in England I once overheard my mother tell someone he was the one "entertainer" that she would fight tooth and nail to make sure her kids never got wind of...and she's not particularly conservative. It doesn't surprise me he'd try this.
Why does anyone even care?

Clarify...care about Ken Bigley or what Billy Connoly said?
Why does anyone care? What if an American comedian said "does anyone agree with me that if Al Qaeda wants to attack us again, they should just drop the audiotape threats and get it over with?" I bet in the wake of 9/11 they'd be subject to much greater criticism than purveyors of wardrobe malfunctions...
Care about what some comedian said, I mean.
Seriously. Does what some dipshit said in a stand-up gig in Scotland really make a big difference to your life? There will always be people who make crass jokes.
But then, I guess there will always be people who get excited about it.
There will always be a sunrise.
We'll always have Paris.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Silly me.

Because I choose not to be apathetic. I was following this story since his kidnapping, and I was really hoping for his safe release. To hear some jabroni make such a callous comment gets me hot under the collar.
Sorry I'm so apathetic. I was thinking I'd done my bit for democracy, but I'd forgotten my obligation to waddle about quacking self-righteously and tapping out squeaks of outrage on the Hipbase, where it really matters.

Alrighty then...thanks for the input.
