Over at the Henhouse, one of the guys was sitting behind the soundboard in Syracuse, and the setup is all digital this tour with the lights being preprogrammed for each song.
The list of songs he saw for the light setup was:
Gems, Boots, 50 MC, Puttin', Luxury, Darkest One, Daredevil, Pigeon, and Fighter Fighter (which means they should play it again, if the lights have been choreographed for it).
holy shit! BOOTS! LUXURY! PIGEON!
Argh! I would kick a nun to see them play Boots live again. Wonder how often they'll pull these rarities out.

I saw them play Boots on the "evening with" tour in 2000 with Chris Brown on piano. It was freakin' brilliant!
Okay, so Boots is a rarity...
What other songs are considered rare?, so I know how lucky I am when they play it at GM Place.

I think Pigeon is a rarity, I cant recall having heard it live in the 5 years ive been attending Hip concerts.
Boots is one tune I'd love to hear in place of blow at high dough or courage etc.
Maybe in LONDON. You reading this, Mr. Sinclair?

yeah, boots definately doesn't get played enough, same thing goes for 50MC. and imagine...being there when they busted out the luxury! that's as good as it gets for rarities IMO (unless they broke one of their rules and played 38 years, fiddlers, or anything from s/t).

Check out the "Song Stats" link at the top of the page. You can check 'em out year by year, decade by decade, or look at everything since the beginning of "Hipstory". This realy is an amazing databse for all things Hip!

I never noticed that, now I'll definitely know what to expect
I'd like to see them break out some PP standards more often: Vapour Trails, Something On.
Hope I get to hear a luxury...the whole banana thing you know!! (see Avatar of Gord D shaking a banana) We get the strangest looks shaking our banana's at show.
...thisis about a man whose sorta down on his luck so he takes to the streets shaking a banana at people trying to convince that it's making a sound...(mine IS a ahsaker banana and DOES make a sound!)
Gimme a Luxury!!

Hi, I've been a lurker for a couple of months and this is my first post, what are the rules for songs they don't play. I've been to three shows going to my forth in Montreal. Anyone else going to MTL? Also I have yet to hear boots or hearts live and would love to. brilliant!
I noticed that at the last show they played Inevitability of Death which, call me wrong, they haven't played for a while, and the tune is definitely a highlite from DFN.

well, they don't play Fiddlers Green because it was written for a deceased relative of Gord's, a nephew i think? somebody will fill you in on that one, nonetheless they don't play it. they stopped playing 38 years old along time ago, word is because Gord was sick of people coming up to him and telling them how sorry they felt about his sister (even though the song is fictional), and sadly they refuese to play anything from their self titled EP (which is a real shame, because Highway Girl and Cemetery Sideroad would be excellent closers as the final encore). other than that, pretty much anything is fair game, although they don't really play much from Up To Here or Road Apples anymore.
