I took this from the Henhouse - Jeff talked with the guys in Boston last night.
Additional songs cut from album are...
Fighter Fighters
Cooking During Wartime
Night Is Forgetting
hmmm, so I wonder if the song played at Whistler listed on the setlist as "Forget" was in fact Vaccination Scar, sounds more likely that it would have been this Night Is Forgetting....
Nick
I wonder if this means Gord and the guys will no longer work with Adam Kasper, since he was the one who cut those songs from the album(I'm assuming so since he is the producer)? That would be a little short sighted on the band's part, I think, cause Adam helped put together a rocking album.

The producer does not have a say in what is dropped from an album (or rather cd). That is the artist's (and depending on a recording contract, record company's) decision. The producer's roll is to help with recording and arrangement.
Here is a quote from Akoso regarding the producer cutting the songs:
"I actually talked to Bobby about it on Sunday night in Cleveland. He said the Hip recorded 16 songs for IBE, but needed to cut 3. They couldn't agree on which song to cut, so their producer decided for them. They accepted the cuts 'n left it at that. Then Bobby said a couple weeks later they clued in that the producer and his team being American, the recording session happening in Seattle and the 3 songs being cut being the most anti-war songs from the album was too much of a coincidence... but it was too late to change."
The album is short why couldn't they have 16 songs and rounded out the time a bit.

Here's my take:
Robby was probably joking about the political stuff. It makes absolutely no sense that Adam Kasper would cut certain songs just because of their political overtones. This guy worked with Pearl Jam on their last album "Riot Act" which is the most overtly political album of their career so far. In fact, I can't think of a more political band right now than Eddie and the boys. Just check out some of the tunes on that album, specifically the song "Bushleager" which is the most blatant attack on Dubya I've ever heard from a popular band. If that particular song was left on the PJ record, there's no way that Kasper would cut a few Hip songs from IBE just because they're anti-Bush. He most likely cut them just to keep the record short, concise, and rockin'.
I seriously doubt he'd be worried about a couple of political songs by an obscure Canadian rock band that for the most part nobody in the U.S. has ever heard of.
So regardless of why they were cut (and the obvious conspiracy) my question is; anybody know when will we get to hear em?.... This is like eating candy for supper and making your kid eat brussel sprouts.

Well, I guess my above statement was partially wrong, then. Kasper did have a say, which was approved by the guys.
Sorry for sounding like a know-it-all.

When I spoke with Bobby, he sounded pretty serious. His answer made me quite curious though, so I asked Gord S. about it afterwards as well. However, he seemed to just brush it off not really wanting to gossip by saying he didn't think they finished properly recording it and they didn't have time to fix it up before the album got released. I'm not sure if Gord kind off blowing off the question was because the reason is political or just because he didn't know.
Either way, those aren't my opinions... just relaying what I heard. Don't shoot the messenger.

Hahah, ahhhh that gave me a chuckle Royce.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to shoot ya. I just don't believe that Kasper would cut songs from the record because of political reasons. Either way, I really wanna hear these tunes. I'd love to see them appear on an EP along with Ultra Mundane, Problem Bears, and Forest Edge.
Is there a reason why there can't be 16 songs on a CD?
Quote:Is there a reason why there can't be 16 songs on a CD?
Nope.
I firmly believe a lot of what has been said here earlier in that the band was looking for a short, concise, rockin' album. Whether it was because the songs weren't finished, or for some other reason, they didn't make it to the album. Take it from someone that heard Fighter Fighter - if those three songs are as good as that one, then it is a shame that they didn't make it on the album.
So here's to hoping they continue to play them on the tour so everyone can form their own opinions.
