Hi all,
Each day one of the local radio stations - WEQX (an independent alternative station broadcasting to VT and Albany NY - plays their 'Top 5 at 5' which are the top 5 most requested songs of the day.
EQX has been playing Vaccination Scar quite a bit lately - and how 'bout that - they were #1 today.
It's great to hear them on the radio.
Just wanted to pass on the good news.

YAY! We upstate New Yorkers know a good song when we hear it :thumb:
I heard VC 4 times today on Edge102 in Toronto! They play The Hip quite a bit, but 4 times for one song tells me something is up.
The radio industry claims that payola doesn't happen, but as we all know, a rose by any other name, is still a rose!

My ex-husband used to get things to play songs. I.E.,he'd get a fax that if he played a song so many times he'd get a new radio. He also got cool stuff from the radio companies, like pens and hats and stuff with the song or artist on them. He'd also get stuff to give away with ideas on how to associate it with a certain song.
They still do it after all these years, the money just isn't direct.
I think it would be pretty sad if the only reason why the Hip haven't made it big in the States all these years is they didn't play the "scratch my back and I'll play your song" game

Scar playing on WEQX is a strange story. My brother-and-law and I have been calling and calling EQX to play the song - this was back when it came out... When was that May?
They said they didn't have it.
We kept calling... Nothing. Then, Summer Is Killing Us is the 'next' single or the US single. So we started calling for that one. Again, they said they did not have it.
Then, finally, one day when Matt called, the DJ said they got the disc and they decided to add Scar to the rotation. That was a month ago.
Then, yesterday - it's the number one requested song. Very cool.
However - it shows that their record company was not getting the tunes out to the radio stations.
