Hey guys, I just found R.E.M.'s new video for the single "Leaving New York" from the forthcoming album and it's AMAZING! It reminds me a bit of E-Bow the Letter, but a lot more sparse and the performance clips are fantastic...Michael looks great. He's even wearing Gord's white suit from Good Life!! :jump This is easily the best video since the New Adventures singles.
As for the song itself, I'm please to report MIKE HAS HARMONIES AGAIN!! Yippee ki yay! The one thing that really detracted from Reveal is here in full force. The song sounds like it could have come from Up, it's so lush and atmospheric and had a real bittersweet tone to it...
If anybody wants the video, post your MSN address and I'll send it along! You won't be disappointed!
They have a concert scheduled for Nov. 11th at the Civic Center in Ottawa. I'm surprised that they'd choose that little arena to play in. I'll probably go.
WHAT!! Holy shit, I saw the 67's play there...that's incredible! Wish like hell I could be there.

$60.00/ticket. Some of my friends find that expensive. I really don't. It was something like $100.00 for Mettalica at the Corel Centre, and that's about 17,000 more seats than the Civic Center.
Yeah no kidding, I paid $60 to see Dylan and I wasn't complaining. But I did refuse to pay $67 plus fees that made it $80 for DMB at the Corel Centre about five years ago when I was into them. The seats were a nautical mile from the stage and it wasn't worth risking altitude sickness for it. I would pay $60 in a heartbeat to see R.E.M. in a venue that small.
Its crazy that REM still doesnt have an official web page...not that (some)official band web pages do a whole lot....ahem...
Yes they do... <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.REMHQ.com">www.REMHQ.com</a><!-- w -->
The album is out in October! Can't wait!
Well, whaddya know...
I remember seeing an interview with them (on CNN of all places), and they mentioned something to the effect of them still not having an official website after all these years...is their website relatively new?
I saw REM on the Green tour and it was by far the most boring concert I have ever seen in my life. Stipe was the most borign front man I have ever seen.
Man, it is weird that they are playing the Saddledome in Calgary but the Orpheum in Vancouver and the Hummingbird in Toronto. Do they have that many more fans in Calgary than other Canadian cities?
Nope Steve, their website is a little over 5 years old. I was still in Calgary when I heard about it on their website...summer of 1999.
NMAS - the Green tour?! Those were such great shows! I was far too young to be into them at the time, but Tourfilm, which chronicles that tour, is one of the best live concert videos I have. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it...
Well like I said, whaddya know... :oops:
