Is it true Gmail I guess reads all your incoming mail?

Do people at Google sit around your email? No. Does Google's software scan your email for keywords so that they can display relevant ads? Yes. For example, if I was to email someone about how much the Dolphins are going to suck this year and they emailed me back agreeing, I'd likely see some text ads for purchasing Dolphins tickets. Think of how Google's text ads are on the right when you do a search - it is just like that. Once you get used to them you hardly notice that they are there - unless you look for them.

But, if you are one of those paranoid types that thinks that Windows XP scans your harddrive looking for pirated software and everyone is out to get you, then Gmail is definitely not for you.....

Oh, and I just got another six invites today. Man, they should just open it to the general public already. I think I've had more than 50 invites now......
Thats what this 1 dude I work with was saying today about Gmail....he really dint get into specifics like you did.....thanx....
Thanks to Chris, I've been hooked up with the gmail, and it says I have 6 invites at the top of the inbox, but when I click on the link, nothing happens...anyone else having this problem?

Do you have a pop-up blocker on? The invite screen is a pop-up, so that might have something to do with it......
Yeah, I got 5 invites left so if anybody wants one, PM me...
(Everybody I know has already got one from me)

I've played around with Norton Firewall's settings to try and allow pop-ups on the site, and it still doesn't work. Are there any Internet Explorer settings that may be blocking the pop-ups?

Are there any toolbars you added to your Explorer? Yahoo or Google or something? That may be doing it...
got it going last night....I found the answer on their faq (should have spent some more time reading...) I played around with the security/privacy levels in Internet Explorer, as well as connected to the secure site (https) as opposed to the regular site (http)
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. :thumb:
