Marty got in trouble for his last contract from the NHLPA. Rather than have an acrimonious negotiation, he signed for what the Devils offered him - without consulting an agent no less! One of those rare athletes who realizes how lucky he is and would rather take a couple of million less to play where he is comfortable than a couple of million more to play for the top bidder.

How about that...there's about 599 players out there (30 teams times 20 skaters minus Brodeur) who could stand to follow said example...

What, doesn't Marty talk to Patrick Elias or Scott Niedermayer???
