it's not a police code.

apparently it has to do with a group of kids in california somewhere that used to meet after school at 4:20 to smoke. Eventually it became a code for them to talk about smoking for those not in the know and it spread from there.

I'm sure there's a lot about it on the net for those that would care to search for it. I can't be bothered though. heh. looks like 4:20 just rolled past here in Calgary.
