Tthip and Jeff Topping: Do you guys work for ticket master? Give me a break here. You guys are ruthless. So, what is the hipclub presale for anyway? To make sure some members get seats farther away than joe schmo who buys the tickets after they go on sale to the general public? I wasn't bitching at the band. I was pointing out a flaw in their system to "reward fans" where they could potentially punish fans.

John Cage: I know it's not their fault. Thats why I blamed the management, not them.
Boot: You're right there is no cost difference between TM presale and TM post sale, but after the tickets are released, I could walk down the street and buy them from the box office for $7 a pop cheaper.

Sorry, I'm still slightly miffed.
If that's how it works (not many good seats in the presale) then things have definitely changed since the IVL tour. I specifically remember for the Toronto shows it stating that "every" seat would go on sale through the presale, then the remaining seats will go on sale to the general public. Perhaps it depends on the venue and promoter as to how many they will release for the presale....

Dana's right. The seats are randomly assigned. It's not like all seats are for sale for the pre-sale and then capped off when x amount are sold.
If you are going to a venue with a 1000 person capacity and the front row holds 40 people, then about 20 of those will be available for pre-sale. If the second row holds 45, about 20 of those will be available for pre-sale, etc. So during the pre-sale, if those 20 front row seats are already taken when you search for seats, the best seats you'll find are row B. However, if you go back the next day and look for regular seats, you'll see that there are still 20 front row seats available.
There's no way a band is gonna reserve the front third of the venue for pre-sales. How are they gonna convince the less dedicated fans to watch their show if the best seats available are a third of the way back? Whether it's a pre-sale or a regular sale, you're only gonna get good seats if you buy early.

seriously, my response to you is this..
i do see your frustration. believe me, i've been buying tickets for over 20 years going back to the days of standing in the freezing cold, only to have A) a bunch of people show up with wristbands and cut infront of evryone who has been waiting, B) the dude running the store never shows up C) they sellout within the first 5 people....
Its a lot more fair than it used to be now that you can go online. presales never existed then. The presale is just one addtl option for a "fan" to get a chance. no guarantees.
some bands like U2 have more control over tickets and for stadium shows will reserve entire sections for fan presales. however nowadays presales seem to be a standard deal with TM on every single show.
i mean how exclusive do you think the presales really are? how many people went on this board and read the info and password? how secure of a password is evolution? i've hacked into presales just by trying different words, usually the name of the album. silly stuff, 2-3 tries and you're in. So really, this was nothing more than one more attempt to give you a chance to get a seat that might otherwise be sold out completely.
im not standing up for TM, but for gods sake, this thing is bigger than the 5 guys on stage. there are so many variables and processes that come together to pull off an onsale. your letter to them didnt show a very adult or reasonable position. no offense, i understand your frustration, i really do, but is this the first time you didnt get good seats at a show?
TM stinks and the whole thing is a huge scam. the Very best seats in the house dont ever get released. they're distributed on the inside. they cost too much, blah blah blah...it's all true.
But you knew that going into this. It IS a shame you couldnt get killer seats. that sucks. im sorry. im just saying, dont flame the band like that.

As a long time fan, I have attended many concerts, but have never purchase any using my fanclub membership (only because it happened to always be on the morning I was working and couldn't get to a computer!)
I think it is absolutely random luck. For example, I purchaed 2 tickets to the 10/19 show in Rocheste well after they went on sale. I got 25th row, centre right floors. Perfect! However, I continued checking just for interest sake, and one day "PIT ROW 1" came up, about a week after the first purchase! (they were INCREDIBLE seats, the best I have ever had for any show, any band, anywhere!!)
So.... you just never know. Sometimes new seats are released, or other orders don't go through and are re-realeased. It is all about timing, and just being lucky!!
In any case, no seat is really a bad one with seeing TTH...!

i have thought the same .i guess ultimately its the one selling and they want too make the most money for doing the least.
these brutal shipping and handling charges should allow a little wiggle room if a situation arises..
i work in a courier company and we ship and mail packages all over the world and i know it doesnt cost 7 bucks each too get 4 tickets sent too me or anyone for that matter.
i dont know how it works or if the bands have a say over what is released too us and assumes maybe we are getting the benefits.
i would think the logic might be if the good seats go to the pre-sale all the time then others are going too be pissed that they dont get a chance at decent seats.
i am sure none of it is too do with ticketmasters love of the music.lol

they might not get that one but if enough people did that it may come too their attention. ticketmaster doesnt give a crap.
its ironic because when i went too grab my bank card last night i grabbed the hip club card out and thought at that point this was supposed too give us not just the pre-sale but discounts on merchandise.
needless too say they would not accept my official hip club member card too pay for my shirt..... lmao

that is the way it still should be...definitely we are going in the wrong direction with what is happening these days.
the band currently does not have a fan club, whether people like to call it one or not. all that the band offers these days is a ticketmaster presale and that password is available to anyone and everyone. there is no fan club. im quite surprised, for such a fan friendly band...
