john cage Wrote:Try priceline.com. I've used it three times this summer and have been quite satisfied. You can pick a general location and there are decent maps to help out.
Thanks for the advice... I'll make sure to check it out.
Any other Cleveland-bound hipbasers staying staying over for a night or two?
Anthony
A big pre welcome to Cleveland...my hometown is a great town. Finding a less than pricey hotel near the odeon is just not gonna happen. The Marriot Town Center is the closest to the venue (the band stayed there last time) but is pretty costly and barely within walking distance of the flats. Try the Holiday Inn Lakeside.....not to costly but you are gonna have to drive to the venue..or there is public transit. PM me if you need any other info I can try and help
Stay Hip.....13 days and counting to Clevland... :jump

I thought that The Odeon was IN the Flats.
We ate and partied in The Flats last time - and then just walked to the show - I thought it was right there.
The Odeon is in the flats...there are no hotels within real walking distance of the flats...that's what I meant....sorry
We will all have a blast at the show! LOL!
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you Hipbasers there.
(Chris and I will be making the Lap of the Lake Tour).

Well folks, the months already turned into weeks... and the weeks have now become just days. I still can't believe that I'm actually going.
When's everyone going down? We should all meet up for dniner or hit a pub on the Saturday night. I'm still looking for a hotel, but if anyone has found a place or knows where they'll be, lemme know.
(of course any tips on meeting the band before the show, after the show, where to go, what time to arrive, where to wait, etc. are always appreciated!)
Info on a hotel for anyone interested . I was able to get a room at the Comfort Inn $79 us on Hotels.com . Hotel is located 1.29 miles from show Other hotels much closer but most wanted $150 up for 1 night.
Good luck and see you in Cleveland :thumb:
We are also staying at the Comfort Inn...reasonable and close. What about a meeting spot for prior to the show? Any one know of any place?
Fran
It would be nice to stay but I have an 8:00am meeting in Sidney Oh (about 3 hrs away). I guess this is the one disadvantage of having work pay for my Filght
Thanks for the Comfort Inn suggestions guys. I'm considering it. I also found the Baymont Cleveland Independence (which mapquest claims is 9 miles away) 'n the Cleveland Days Inn Airport (which mapquest claims is 13 miles away). Neither of them are too close, but they're only asking for about $48 US.
Does anyone (ajjay?) know these hotels 'n can anyone verify if those distances sound about right? and also, how is the transit system? How much would a cab from downtown to the airport (13 miles?) cost?
Thanks.

Have fun in Sidney - that place reminds me of your avatar!
Folks I checked the web and found a few different bar right next to the Odeon. Not sure how good so maybe a Clevelander can help pick a good one if people all want to meet before show.
1-O'Connors Pub- (Theme)-Irish Pub
2-Buffalo Wild Wings -Chain Wing joint not bad for sports watching(remember this rest. is HQ in Minnesota not Buffalo so they are not original chiken wings),but not bad
3-Porky's- Not sure of theme but any bar named after a B-movie can't be bad
4-River's Edge- Nautical Theme also an original flats bar before they got overcrowed with nightclubs
5-Zeke's - no them give
These all list an address on Old River between 1100-1350 Odean is at 1295 Old River.
Folks, since I'm not making any of the US shows this year due to new priorities in my life such as wife and baby, I'll give you all a little hint from my experience last time around in Cleveland. For the IVL tour in 2002, my wife and I, plus another couple took the trip down from Stoney Creek and stayed at the Sheraton in downtown Cleveland. It's a nice short taxi drive to the Odeon, but I'll spend the extra cash to get a nice place to sleep. Well, it was worth it. After we checked in and put our stuff away, we went down to the front desk to ask where the best sites are to visit, and lo and behold, here walks in Mr. Sinclair to check in the entire crew, while the bus waits outside. After greetings and a pic, our trip was worth it, and we hadn't even seen the show yet. Two shows in Cleveland, and we ended up meeting the band after the show out front of the Odeon, getting pics, autographs and of course "Hellos". My bet is to stay at the Sheraton. Also, since the Cleveland show is on a Sunday, check if there is a home Brown's game. If there is, the Flats will be brutal. There was an exhibition game last time I was there, and the place was a zoo. Hope everyone has a great time, get those shows taped and recorded, but I have to agree with alot of the cynicysm (spelling?) about this tour and the pending Canadian dates....too short, no double shows in certain cities, and probably predictable setlists....But hey its the Hip, so its still a good time...Cheers
The Browns are on the road in Dallas so the flats should be dead on a sunday . Just us 900 Hip fans walking around.
