I feel bad for you, I mean you're going to see an incredible Hip show and then to the final game to watch Canada lose. You need to reverse the order so you won't be so bummed out. Watch Canada lose, then go to Hip show.
Actually, that might happen when they get bounced in the semis! There is always hope I guess. Then you can enjoy a great final between USA and Sweden. It will all work out well for ya though I'm sure.

the US is looking rough. what an old squad. they have no chance. Sweden is stacked, except I really question their goaltending.

, I'm finding it very difficult to get overly excited about the WC...seems to me it's nothing more than a glorified exhibition tourney designed to take everyone's mind off the coming storm...Now, I know I'm being overly cynical, but am I the only one who thinks this WC is nothing more than a pre-lockout cash grab to stuff the respective sides' war chests? Food for thought, anyway...
Remember folks...the final on Sept. 15th will very likely mark the official END of the NHL hockey season for 2004 (and 2005?)....as such I just can't get into it...I'm thinking I'll stick to Jr. hockey this year instead...
That said, based solely on roster strength, I'd predict a Canada/Sweden final, although the Czechs will also be tough...lemme know how it turns out, will ya? :wink:

I am choosing to make a big deal out of the World Cup because if there is no hockey season next year, this will be the last chance we have to see the NHL stars do their thing for a long time to come. My love of the game overwhelms any amount of cynicism I might feel about the politics of the affair. And it doesn't hurt that I live in the mightiest hockey empire the world will ever know!

Like I said grooveless, I fully admit to being overly cynical about the whole thing, but if the tourney floats your boat, then by all means enjoy the games! I presume your "love of the game" will be transplanted onto the Mooseheads once the hammer falls? :wink:

You bet! Unfortunately this past season wasn't much to write home about, but they're one of the most consistently good teams in the league and they're always fun to watch.
Another reason I like the World Cup is it's interesting to see NHL stars playing with each other in combinations you'd never see otherwise. It was great during the last Men's Championship when Daniel Alfredsson scored a goal on an assist by Mats Sundin. An excellent play, and the high five between bitter regular-season rivals was sweet!

Plus, to my knowledge anyway, they're the only Jr. hockey team in the country with their own Mastercard commercial...:thumb:
We're spoiled here in the GTA; there are over 50 Jr. hockey teams (OHL, OPJHL, Jr. B, Jr. C, etc) within an hours drive of my house (in Aurora)...plenty of choice come D-day...
