So what other Canadian bands should I be listening to? I've really enjoyed the Spirit of the West albums that I ordered last week...the Rheostatics, of coures...I think the Unicorns are Canadian...

Well if you like Spirit, you'd probably like Blue Rodeo. They're a great roots-rock band, and since you seem to have a preference for more of the rock side of things, I recommend "Lost Together" and "Nowhere To Here". Both seminal albums from a great Canadian band. Also in the loud rock field are Sam Roberts and the brilliant blues-rock of Big Sugar (who recently broke up).
Other Canucks I listen to... Jimmy Rankin (absolutely fantastic folk music with a nod to pop sensibilities), Neil Young (although I'm sure you've already heard lots of his stuff), Matt Mays (ballad-ish rock and roll), Gordon Lightfoot (pure folk, though in the 70s he went electric), and...the most obscure band I love...Kate Fenner and Chris Brown. Thanks! I'm going to see The Weakerthans when they stop at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill this month. Reconstruction Site is a great album. The Weakerthans have been getting lots of airplay on the local college stations in NC....well, at least in Greensboro and Chapel Hill.

Damn, I can't believe I forgot to mention Blue Rodeo and Matt Mays. Boths of those bands are excellent!

I think I remember a Headstones video from the first year we got Much Music down here('93 or '94, I can't remember). Are The Headstones still around?
Yes, sadly they split but Hugh Dillon, the lead singer, is pulling solo strings soon. There's a thread, just look for "Hugh Dillon".... :thumb:
