heard this song today and thought this is how some people were feeling about the hip recently with not mixing up the set list

Thats a bit of a hyperbole to what most people feel right now-
I (and I think most) people don't think the band is fading, just their setlists.
A little change would be nice, but I will always wear my worn-out concert tee's... they'r elike trophies.

the setlists were awesome...if you weren't following the hip from city to city...like an obsessive little puppy dog peeing all over what were amazing concerts.

it is a song i heard today and since alot of other threads are stating that they are not going to hip show if they don't change up the setlist
People can choose not to go, that's fine. I tend to agree with the Darkest Canuck on this. I am fortunate to see the band once or twice every few years and love the concerts. If people who see 30 shows a year don't like the setlists then stay the hell home!
wasn't directed at any one individual, just at anybody complaining about the setlists.
a wise man once told me that a hip concert is like a pizza...when its good, its very good and when it is bad,its still pretty fucking good...regardless of setlists. :thumb:
Come on DC, what are we as fans supposed to say? This is the band that gave us the Evening With tour, in which we saw them go as deep and distinct into their catalogue as realistically possible, and now, between two shows, you're lucky to get four or five different songs. I think most of us are just worried that The Hip as a creative may be lacking a bit, which may scare some fans, as it could be taken as a sign of the band starting to simply tread water instead of swim. Did that make sense? I hope so. We were spoiled in past tours or are they becoming standard? It seemed as if they always prided themselves on mixing up the set...but props to Ron for putting up those lyrics...

This fan goes to see the band. I want to see Gord do his thing, Bobby go off, Johnny teach the pads a lesson, Paul emote through his teeth and Sinclair grove with each pluck and slide.
I go to see The Tragically Hip, what they play is nearly irrelevant. I love it all, so play any of it. Maybe I'm easy to please, but I don't think I'm alone.
I'll admit, I was one of the folks complaining about the predictable setlists of late, but as someone else pointed out in another thread, the summer festival shows were most likely just warm-up gigs in preparation for the fall/winter tour-- sort of a tune-up to get the new songs sounding tight. I'll bet we'll see a lot more diversity with the setlists once they hit the road for an extended period of time. They seem to change it up a lot more when they're playing every other night. As a band, if you're only playing one gig every couple of weeks like we saw them do this summer, perhaps you don't feel the need to change it up that much. Just a thought.

anyone lucky enough to catch the evening with tour was spoiled rotten (myself included), the pizza analogy is pretty bang on i'd say, pizza kicks ass, and so does seeing the hip live, regardless of venue, setlist, crowd, ect.
i hope they shake things up with their setlists just as much as the next guy, but it doesn't really matter to me because as far as i know it could be years before i get to see them again, so my advice to you would be to just be thankful for every oppertunity you get to see the hip live, and most importantly, in the words of GD himself..."don't complain"

Who's complaining? I hope my post didn't come across as a complaint. I, along with everyone else would go to see them regardless, but what always impressed me was the band's ability to play something they hadn't necessarily played in awhile, and do it so well. That was part of the fascination with the band's live show. I think many can agree they've got memories from shows where they played that song you didn't expect to hear, and it blew your mind. Play your hits all the time, you play them well, it's a great show. Play some hits but take a risk, play something you don't play that often for the fans, and it's a great show.
I too would love to see them play some oldies. My feelings are that they take too much pride in what they do to just go out there and have at it. I don't think Gord D likes it much when he can't remember the lyrics and shit. IMHO I wouldn't care if they screwed up out there and honestly how many of us would notice anyway. I keep bringing up the dead and how they can play any one of thier songs on any given night the difference is the dead don't care if they skip a verse or a solo goes off somewhere else they just keep playing. I would love to see this at a hip show. The songs belong to the hip and if they change em up no one should really care. My dream is to go to a hip show where they play three plus hours and bleed songs into one another and extend the shit out of others. There stage show seems to be a little polished now. Don't get me wrong I would still go to as many hip shows as I could even if the set lists where exactly the same. These guys just seem to be made to take the next step to jam band status with Gord ranting over top of it all, heck even Gordie could get in on the jams now that he is playing guitar more and more.
