The movie made Jim look like basically his world revolved around a bottle and whatever kinda drug waz available that day.But he waz much more than that, the man read, read, read and read some more., having said what I said about the movie, i still liked it...it exposed alot of people to the magic of the band~~~
Yeah I agree! That movie probably holds the record for the most-watched movie i have... although i feel they kinda tried too hard to convey a whole mystical element in his life which I didn't like.... the witch he marries and then shrugs her off and dies and the dancing around the bonfire stuff... They tried to make him look like, I don't know what I'd call it, like he was "more than just a regular guy" i guess... you know?

Maybe not Gord's ritual but isn't there someone that used to do this or it was on a movie or something?
I have a book called
Led Zeppelin: the Sound and the Fury , and inside is a picture of Jimmy Page, standing, head tilted back, a fifth of Jack in his clutches, dumping it stright down the hatch. The caption reads something to the effect of "Page prepares to take the stage".....

that page pic is my current wallpaper on my home PC..love it
Could be, could be..
But did he smash the empty bottle on the wall or no?
Don't think he'd smash bottles, or for that matter, if this was a pre-show ritual for Pagey....just thought the image might have stuck in your mind if you had ever seen it......as "opiated's" post may suggest, it is one memorable photo....
Can you post that Page pic please, Also another 1 that coulda done the bottle smashing thing would/could be Bon Scott, another JD lover...
Unfortunately, I do not have an electronic copy of that pic. Looks like it's up to 'opiated'.....sorry....
Oh...I found it on ithe internet. Guess I was wrong - Jimmy is seated, not standing....been awhile since I've seen it! Not sure how to attach it so it can be seen on here, but here is the link:

Yeah  That's my new favorite pic!
I don't think Gord could afford to smash a $400 bottle of quality whisky at each show anyway.
I think that was Page's and for that matter, all of Zeppelin's pre-show, during the show, and for sure, after the show ritual....that's what made them the greatest band of all time. Page completely wasted and on strung out on heroin (not promoting the idea), and still writing and playing the best music ever....
don't forget about having sex with all the 14-year-olds...
