Just wondering if there are any Wilco fans here as well? And if so, your thoughts on A Ghost is Born? Personally, I like it better than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
I've also collected some Wilco boots from etree if anyone is interested...

I've been a Wilco fan ever since I first saw them live as part of ARA '97. I'm still getting used to the new album. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was a brilliant piece of work, and this album seems to be a natural progression. I like it, but I haven't fallen in love with it just yet. I'm all for a little experimentation once in a while, but sometimes Tweedy seems as though he's just being weird for the sake of being weird, which is fine I guess, but it doesn't always gel with me. There's some really bizarre stuff on this album that I can't seem to get into, particularly the song "less than You Think" which I tend to skip most of the time.
The majority of the album is fantastic though. "At Least that's What You Said", "Handshake Drugs", "Company in My Back", and "Hummingbird" are all stellar songs. "The Late Greats" is pretty cool as well.
I got into Wilco when I was living in St Louis. Also I saw the Hip open for Wilco at the taste of Columbus show a few years ago which solidified my respect for this band. Wilco open my ears for a few other band such as Uncle Tupelo, Sun Volt and the Bottle Rockets which are all from the St Louis area.

I don't think there is nearly as much experimentation with AGIB as there was with YHF. There's obviously that 10 minutes of crap on Less Than You Think (which I've cropped), but other than that, I don't really hear a lot of nutty stuff on this album.
Did you get a hold of the YHF demos? Pretty cool to hear those songs in their organic form.
Here's hoping they come to Calgary as part of their tour. :thumb:
Wilco's great. Like others here, I was turned on to Wilco during the 97' ARA. Been a fan ever since. And like Mikeysaint, they opened up my ears to Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar, Sun Volt, The Minus 5. I haven't heard any Bottle Rockets but I'll give them a go as well.
I've been listening to Wilco's new album for months now and it's really great. I think I still like YHF a bit more but this one's right up there as well. The YHF demos are really cool as well.
All second the "come to Calgary" hope. I'd love to see them again. They put on a great live show.

Uncle Tupelo was an amazing band. A couple years ago I was given a free copy of their Anthology '89-93 disc, which features 21 songs spanning their entire short-lived career. I was hooked on the first listen.
I'd never heard of them, but downloaded some songs yesterday and i have to say....great band :thumb:
